Food search in app

The app no longer allows me to search for a new food. When I type in the name of the food I'm  searching for, the search results window goes blank. For example, If I'm searching for milk when I type in milk nothing is displayed.  This started happening yesterday on November 6.

It looks like it's an ongoing issue and that has been already escalated, we'll provide you with a fix as soon as possible.

In the mean time, try to troubleshoot the issue by checking

  • FItbit app updates
  • Force stop the app and try mobile data instead of Wifi.

Yet another issue with the app. This morning I'm trying to search my food and it just won't search. It will find frequent used and custom, but won't search food. And yes I have WiFi, forced stop uninstalled etc etc

Done it so many times with various issues l. Annoying.

I'm based in Israel and this is always used to work for me, but suddenly in the last days I'm not able to search for food items. Any clue what went wrong and how can I fix it?

I spoke to the Help Desk earlier today and they are working on a fix for this problem.  They told me to look out for an update to the app in the app store.

Top of this page on right it says 'Help'  press that and then follow the prompts, they will either call you, you can call them or you can set up a chat - which is what I did, didnt have to wait too long.  Good luck!

@ACBlue   It seems everyone trying to search foods has this issue.  Fitbit is aware.

Since early yesterday evening EST I have been unable to enter foods other than with custom feature. Following Google AI guidance I cleared data and cache and now in the app I see food database as N/A as the only option and the search option for foods is gone. TOTALLY NOT ACCEPTABLE!  I rely on this feature for nutritional guidance. Get it up and running again ASAP and let people know upfront when you're about to add new feature that could screw up the existing ones. Give me back my food database!!!

I also started having the same issue yesterday. the barcode function is totally gone. there is no way to log my food intake anymore. The search feature goes blank due to there being no database for it.

I agree with Gary.  I have been unable to enter food data (UK) since yesterday, 6th November 2025. I am not a new Fitbit user having just received my 9 year badge about an hour ago. Unless Google/Fitbit reinstate the UK food database in the very near future I will be looking for another fitness watch

I also reinstalled the app, and the food database is still "N/A" as the selected and only option. And with the reinstall of the app the bar code reader icon IS gone, too.  Not available is not acceptable for much longer!

I just re-downladed the Fitbit app for.my Chage 6 and it's still N/A for the food database and no UPC scanner icon. So no fix yet and it's getting to be a hassle tracking food by hand.

I am having the same issue. When I scanned a bar code yesterday a message popped up that it was under maintenance.   But it's almost 24 hours.  Seem to be a long time for maintenance..

Same happened to me,11/6/2025, since yesterday. Tied everything, reloading, rebooting. Nothing works. Tried live chat with Fitbit. Transferred me to a ‘programmer’, yet need to pay $50 to joint , meanwhile the live chat is disconnected. Anyone has luck?
