Heart Rate & Charge Issues

I have had my Fitbit Charge 6 for over a year or so now and its only recently been giving me a few issues.

Firstly is the charger itself. I'm unsure if the back of the Fitbit needs properly cleaned or if the charger itself is causing issues but the charger has to be connected fully to the back and at times I'm slightly adjusting it to get it to start charging. Everything then has to be left in the one spot or one simple movement results in the Fitbit stopping charging. Due to this my Fitbit has stopped and restarted charging again a few times in a bid to get it to work properly and it has messed up the battery. It charges quicker and lasts less time. Once I get to 20% the battery runs down in under an hour.

As well I had recently begun cardio training in a bid to get in shape. After some cycling I went on the treadmill and started walking. Now I'm unsure if it was stress, issues with the Fitbit itself or something interfering but my heart rate shot up to 150bpm from 109 in and instant but immediately dropped back down. It was so instant but didn't last too long. It showed up on my heart rate recordings. I haven't had these spikes in a while. I should also mention that I deal with stress and anxiety and I was dehydrated at the time of walking but I have had issues with random heart rate spikes on a previous Fitbit and this is a first for this one

Hello @TheRonyMac7

Sorry to see you're having issues with charging your Fitbit. I would start with cleaning the back of the device. It could be that there's some kind of build up that results in less efficient charging. This help page (<-- click) has the cleaning instructions.

Also check your charging cable. Run your fingers gently across the prongs and see if any of them are stuck in the down position. This would cause the kind of charging issues you're describing. You might need a new charging cable.

Regarding your heart rate spike, since you mention that you deal with stress & anxiety and was dehydrated, it could well be the spike was due to those factors.

I, too, deal with stress & anxiety. My heart rate will often race for a brief time, resulting in increased AZM and Cardio Load without working out.

Since you've had random heart rate spikes in the past, I'm sure you'll pay attention for those spikes. You might consider getting getting a device like a pulse oximeter, which also does heart rate. They tend to be not very pricey and is a quick way to confirm if the spikes are real or not.
