Historical exercise data incorrect

I noticed some of my historical exercise data is showing incorrect data. For instance, it is showing that an exercise took me "654 months, 5 days".  Will this be fixed with the next update?

Hello @Sho311

There is an issue on the Fitbit side that affected exercise data syncing. The team is aware of the issue and have been working on a fix.

That said, there's an update for the Android Fitbit app, ver 4.26.1, that started rolling out today, 25 Sep 2024. I got the update this morning. A few users reported that the iOS Fitbit app update started rolling out yesterday (24 Sep 2024) Although I haven't seen confirmation, I'm hoping that this update fixes the syncing issue and you're able to see your historical data.

The app updates tend to rollout in waves. If you don't see the update right away, keep checking.

I got the app update today, but I am still noticing data inconsistency with my watch vs the app.  Very frustrating.

Same issue here. I've lost 2/3rds of my exercise days in August. I can see the steps, distance etc when I go in via those tiles but the exercise, days, amounts etc. Data is all gone.

I have the latest update as well.

Hello @Sho311 & @Thedunc27

Thank you for confirming that you updated your app. I've seen multiple users report that they could see their historical data again after they updated.

Hopefully, it just might take some time before all your historical data is properly restored.

I heard a high-ranking boss at my employer say, "hope is not an answer" so "hopefully" a more specific response is available in the future.

My app has been updated for days and nothing.

Same. Update did absolutely nothing.

I’m having the same issue where previous months are showing I exercised the first few days of the month then blank the rest of the month, where previously the monthly calendar was full. My app is also up to date, no update showing pending in the App Store. I’ve even tried restarting my Fitbit and app/phone. Very frustrating.

Hello @OWoosh

Are you getting your weekly email progress update from Fitbit? If so, are you seeing that it tracked the correct number of days that you exercised?

Best Answer

Yes, I receive the summary. But thats just it, a summary. It doesn't have specific exercises, nor do I or should I have to manually add weekly summaries together to get what the device, well the app more specifically should be doing.

All you're doing ia deflecting the point and not providing a solution.

I paid for this to track my data, not lose it or be unable to retrieve it.

Please find a solution.

Hello @hotnwell

As best as I can tell, the issue affecting our ability to see all our historical workout information in the Fitbit app has not been completely resolved and that the team is still working on fixing the problem.

@hotnwell

did you find a solution?

I have the same problem.

Since the beginning of November, all my historical data on the application (iPhone13) are completely wrong. The data since 2017 are totally underestimated. For example, I had 17,000 steps by day in 2023, and now only 12,000. Unbelievable!

I disconnected the application, then reconnected. I then deleted the application, I reinstalled it. Nothing changes.

Any idea?

PS sorry for my english, i am french speaking 😉

Hello @lavaux

There has been an on-going issue on the Fitbit side that affects some users' ability to see historical data. The team is aware of the issue and has been working on fixing the problem.

It seems to me to be a syncing issue between the user data on the Fitbit servers and the Fitbit app. As best as I can tell, there isn't loss of user data, we're just not able to see it in the app.

At this point, there isn't any troubleshooting steps we can recommend since the issue is on the Fitbit side. If I see any updates on the fix, I'll report back.

I have no solution. No one from Fitbit responds to the mountain on problems they’ve added to a previously excellent app (and watch). No QA at all.

I also noticed, pretty much daily, that the step count on a new day, when you haven’t registered any steps yet, copies the previous day’s steps as your current days step. Unbelievably they’ve done nothing about it for at least 6 months. You’d think they’d be embarrassed by it.

I mean really, it must be ONE LINE OF CODE to fix:

Change: currentDay.steps_init=previousDay.steps

To: currentDay.steps_init=0

I think the historical data problems has to do with having multiple Fitbits over the years. Generally, when people get a new device, they stop using the old device. I started out with a Charge 2, then transitioned to a Charge 4, 5, and recently a Change 6. For the 4, 5, and 6, I never tried to use them simultaneously. And the reason was, they broke, otherwise I’d probably have kept using them. (No criticism intended for this— they’re inexpensive, have a 1 year warranty—and Fitbit did reliably replace my Charge 4, and after 2 years, you kinda want an upgrade anyway.) And in fact, the app allows only 1 of the Charge 4, 5, or 6 connected to the app. But it allows a Charge 2 (the most recent Charge that has an altimeter, which is why I still use it), and possibly earlier models, to share the app with any one of the 4, 5, 6, which is what I’ve been doing. I think maybe the issues wrt historical data is wrt this, for the few customers (or is it a lot more?) using a Charge 2 and 4, 5, or 6.
