My Fitbit app has lost exercise data going back months and months, kind of randomly. Some exercise days are retained, others have been lost completely and I now have no accurate record, which has been very meaningful and inspiring to me. I have updated app, force quit, **ahem** phone, restarted app, but it did not work. Us this data gone forever??? Help!
Hello @ColoradoInNJ
There was an issue on the Fitbit side that affected our ability to see exercise data in the app. The team is aware of the issue and has been working on a fix.
That said, I know there is an update for the Fitbit app, both Android & iOS, that recently rolled out. Although I haven't seen confirmation, I think this update fixed the exercise data problem. I've seen several users report that they were able to see their historical data after installing the update.
The app update tends to rollout in waves. If you don't see it available for you right away, please keep checking. It should show up soon.

It hasn't for me. Do you know where i can get help? I can't seem to figure it out after switching to google
I went to the google play store and rated the fitbit app at 1 star and said data disappeared and realized a developer replied right away last night. It would be a good idea for us all to do that and might get heard quicker.
You have described my problem exactly. I just want an accurate measure of steps for the last few years and random months seem to be missing most of their data, bringing my averages down so they are meaningless. Wish I'd screen shotted the data, and also been alerted to the online dashboard disappearing. Was hoping that transferring to Google would help but sounds like it might not be the fix I'd hoped for so will hold off. Was worried that transferring might make the problem harder to sort.
Best AnswerMy watch was also randomly shutting off during runs. Yesterday it shut off not during a workout and I couldn't turn it on since I had no charger available. I contacted support, once home and they guided me through alllllll the steps I've already done over and over again. Turns out they said my watch was no longer in warranty (Luxe, got it 2022) and the battery was having issues. Out of desperation... Jan 1st... needed my first run of the year tracked so I went to Target and got a new Charge 6. It works so much better and best of all, I was able to sync to the app and now I see all of the exercises and miles I ran that were missing. Somehow, it may have to do with google taking over AND maybe our watches were also made for the fitbit platform, vs google's? No idea, but.. just wanted to share. So far, looks like my issue was fixed... cost me $140, but it got fixed. 🫠😪
This bug has been ongoing for several months. When is Google going to fix this? It's COMPLETELY unacceptable for a fitness tracking app to not show around 50% of the fitness data it is specifically designed to track. I bought a Pixel Watch 3 which I will be attempting to return for a refund if this major failure is not addressed soon.
Best AnswerFolks. I've just logged a support case, ID 0-2124000038524, and I encourage anyone experiencing this bug to do the same. The more support tickets that Google receives for this issue, the more likely it is that something will be done about it.
Best AnswerI was using Fitbit versa 3 mainly to record my swimming. But about 1.5 years ago Fitbit has stopped recording swimming laps. After I learnt that was their intention to remove the function I gave up to use Fitbit to record my swimming, instead mainly using it as an alarm clock to wake me up in the morning. All exercise data in Fitbit recorded/kept very poorly.
I only found out that my swimming had been recorded about two days ago. I was pretty happy and thought they have solved the problem-finally. However, when I take a close look and found that it is not the case.
I swim at least 1km every day and walk at least 5km everyday. But the app seems have ability to choose ONLY one of the exercises (swim or walk) to show, not both, let alone other exercises I have done - e.g. Yoga, Pilates, cycling etc.
Best AnswerHello @xheinze
You'll see only the most recent activity on the Today page. To see your other workouts, tap on the Exercise days tile. They should be listed on that page. If you're not seeing your other workouts on the Exercise page, please let us know.
Several users have reported that they were able to see their historical data after updating their Fitbit app to version 4.34.1. This app update finished rolling out around the 14 Jan 2025. Please check to see if your app version is 4.34.

Hi Rieko,
I am now able to see all the activities. However, the accuracy of the records are really in doubt. I swim 20 laps (1000m) in a 25m swimming pool everyday. I hardly ever got the correct record for my swimming. The App almost never show 1000m, but 975m (usually). That is not possible, as I always finish on the starting side of the pool. Therefore anything with x75m or x25m are not right. I always launch the swim app to do the recording.
I am not sure if any one have similar experiences.
Best AnswerHello @xheinze
Thanks for letting us know that you now see all your historical activities. At least that issue has been fixed.
If I recall correctly, I've seen users report that they don't see the correct length for their swims. I believe the team is aware of this issue. However, I haven't seen a timeline for a fix.
For now, what you can do is submit the issue using the Feedback option in the Fitbit app
Although it's likely that you won't receive a reply, the team receives & reviews the feedback reports.
