How to customize top display during a workout session

For examples... (on my Charge 4 and Charge 5), when I start a Walk exercise, the topmost display used to show distance traveled, and now it only shows the time. When I start a Strength training exercise, the topmost display showed calories burned, but now only shows time. Can this topmost display be changed or customized?

Hello @Do-gen

I hope I'm understanding your question correctly.

When you start a workout, you can tap on the Exercise screen to cycle through the various metrics being tracked as well as show the time. When you find the screen with the metrics that you want to see at a glance, that will become your topmost display during your workout session.

You will have to do this for each of your workout sessions. Currently, there isn't a way to keep a specific display as the topmost/first screen for a specific type of exercise.

Hi @RiekoC

Not referring to the main metric, but above it. In the attached picture is Strength training… where you see the time used to be calories burned. For Walk, it was distance traveled. I’m wondering if that part is customizable.

Hi @Do-gen

Thanks for sharing the picture and clarifying your question. As far as I know, the workout screens are currently not customizable.

There's a Product Feedback forum (<-- click link) where users can submit feature requests. Other users can vote and submit comments on the feature requests they also want. I understand this is a forum that the developers visit & monitor.

Hi @RiekoC

Well, that's unfortunate. I wonder why it was decided to change all the workouts' top portion to show time. A very poor decision. I will be submitting feature requests to either make it customizable or bring the old displays back; hope it'll make any difference.

Thanks for your help!

Hi @Do-gen

I suspect that section of the workout display might have been changed to show time to let users still use their device as a watch. Although I haven't looked in the Product Feedback forum, it makes me wonder if that was a feature request.

I agree that taking that area customizable would be a good feature.

Hi RiekoC,

I have a question liked to what you're saying here: Is this thing also valid to swimming sessions? Because when I start them the watch automatically lock with a (pretty uncomfortable, tbh) system and, if I unlock it, it automatically take me to a screen with just continue and stop options.

Please lmk if it's my fault or it's just a preset option that cannot be changed (I hope not).

Thanks 🙂

Hello @Francesco_Fas

Since I don't do swimming as a workout, I can't give you a positive answer on this.

Hopefully, another user who is a swimmer will pop in to answer your question.
