How to turn off auto detect exercise on Charge 6

I have a charge 6 and the Fitbit app on a iPhone 14 iOS 17.5 and I keep having sync and interface issues.

sync issues. I open up the Fitbit app to see my daily data and all fields are empty. It doesn’t say whether it’s trying to sync or not. I have to click into the device in top left, then device in list, then scroll down and hit sync now. It takes up to 10 minutes to sync. I have no idea why.

Is it syncing to the cloud then to my phone?
why does it ever show the “today” screen on the app if it isn’t synced? Is there anytime that you would want to see data that isn’t downloaded yet? I’d much rather see a screen that says “loading data” then an empty “today” screen after I’ve run a marathon. It feels broken and is demoralizing.

Fitbit interface issues:

I like the main device display with heart rate at the top, the time and something else at the bottom.

I only want to see my heart rate and the current time. Is there a way to turn off detect exercise mode? If not is there a way to get back to the main device display once the exercise is detected. I don’t ever want the exercise detection to come at the cost of knowing how long I’ve actually been exercising ( if I stop to stretch it thinks I’m done ) and the heart rate. These are critical to me and I loose them on the display once it detects an exercise. How do I either disable detection or get back to the essential display data? It’s so frustrating to be able to see YouTube music (not set up and never will) but not be able to see my heart rate ( essential!) while exercising without having to swipe through 5 or more screens of pace and other stuff.

Thank you. I do like the device but can’t seem to get over these issues.

Hello @Noahmizrahi! Welcome to the Fitbit Community.

Thanks for explaining your situations in regards to the syncing, and auto-start feature in your Charge 6.

I recommend you to restart your Charge 6 to improve the situation with syncing, since it should be syncing automatically. You can also check this article for further information.

In regards to the auto-start feature, you can turn it off:

  1. Open the Exercise app.
  2. Tap the Bike, Elliptical, Rowing, Run, Spinning, or Walk option.
  3. Swipe up and turn off Auto Start. The next time your device detects this workout type, the Exercise app automatically opens.

You can check more information here if needed.
