No Charge 6 Firmware release notes?

On the Charge 5 forum, there's a pinned topic for the latest firmware update. Why isn't there one for this forum?

@mikey_pdx   Please read the release notes for that update.  I don't own a Charge 6, but the Charge 6 was in production at the time.  Are the features part of the Charge 6?  If so, then no update is needed.

This answer doesn't make any sense.

I'm asking, because there was a recent firmware update for the Charge 6, why there's no thread about it. I mention the Charge 5 forum as precedent.

I interpreted your question based upon what you wrote.  Your additional information clarifies your question.  You didn’t mention when you got this update, but there is often a significant lag between release and the printed release notes.

Bump!

Release notes on this forum please.  My Charge 6 is updating as I type, and if some feature is added or bug fixed I'd very much like to read about it.

Well... that's just stupid.

So far, I noticed that top metric in Run activity changed from total distance to time of day. And this is how make a poor sports tracking even poorer 🤷 I haven't noticed other changes, yet.

I think they did that to all the activities. I used to see Calories at the top during my Weights and Spinning exercises, now it's time of day.

I posted in Product Feedback: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Product-Feedback/Allow-users-to-choose-top-of-screen-metric-for-Exer...

@Rich_Laue

I don't see Charge 6 on the list, do you?

Maybe because an update for a Charge 6 hasn't been released. I can't find anything on 9 to 5, about a firmware update for the Charge 6

@Rich_Laue so what do you suggest? Some users got it by mistake?

Fitbit releases updates gradually, monitoring for problemss. Maybe the update is rolling out, but if it was, it would have been noticed by a couple of tech sites. I also dont see anything on https://blog.fitbit.com/category/fitbit-news/product-announcements/

Then again, Fitbit has beta users who may be receiving early beta releases

I noticed this as well. I hate seeing the time instead of my calories spent now. I only use this for working out. the rest of the time it sits in my car, not on my wrist, unless I'm working out. This is so annoying I am almost to the point of factory reset just because they forced this and don't give me the option to customize it back to how it was.

I had to update firmware once when I took my Charge 6 out of the box, and I noticed another update available via the app and updated a few days ago.  The tech sites generally get their news on such things via release notes, unless one of their writers happens to own the device in question.

Perhaps the people on this thread are all getting beta firmware, or perhaps the simplest explanation is true - Fitbit haven't been publishing firmware release notes for the Charge 6.  There are several reasons they might do this, but again, the simplest explanation is that nobody on the Charge 6 team has been assigned the responsibility for writing up release notes for public consumption.  Either that, or whoever used to have responsibility for posting release notes to the help site has left the company and has not yet been replaced.

I appreciate that you're trying to help and thanks for your input.  It certainly seems that Fitbit used to be very good at releasing information about their product firmware updates.

That is not really correct @MrBosco the Charge 6 is sold without any firmware. It comes with only a bootloader that is used to load the initial firmware.

@Rich_Laue I'm not beta user and I received new firmware 🤷

This isn't initial firmware (I'm way past that, I got Charge 6 shortly after release) and there are some changes to be noticed like time of day in top metric of each exercise.

That's for correcting me on that.  This is good to know.
