Well it could be a lot of data, for me, with 10 years, it took a few hours for fitbit to compile.

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @MelvynGW!

You'll find the option to export your Fitbit data in the navigation area on the left hand side in the settings of your Fitbit dashboard:

Fitbit Dashboard - Profile

In order to export recent data, you'll have to sync your device first. Also it might take a while to get your data exported.

You're welcome, @MelvynGW.

You can also export your data on your phone. To do so, first tap your profile picture in the upper right corner of your Fitbit app's Today page. Next choose My Data in Fitbit to access the export option.

However, I find it more convenient to have those on my Laptop for further usage.

Thank you. Why can't the information be downloaded from the app? Why make
it so very difficult?

Thanks. I didn't see that before. It's such a pain getting it even when you see the link. It would be OK if that was an advanced method with a much more user friendly way available.

Thanks again.

I've only had it about a month. On instructions I've seen it says you can select a specific time period but that doesn't seem to be an option. What I was hoping for was to see something like my daily steps and just select that and download it. That's not a thing. You'd think it would be.

I transferred my Fitbit login over to a Google Account.  This move has completely changed the download options as you cannot select any options or a specific period and now have to download ALL of your Fitbit data.

Were you able to find a way to download a period of time?  Is there a way to talk to someone to help figure this out?  Thanks!

I lodged a support request via Instagram on Wednesday, 15th of January, and received a message on that platform that I will get an email from Fitbit support.  No email as yet so maybe I asked a question that has an embarrassing answer.  I thought, probably along with everyone else that the change to a Google Login would not change any functionality at all which is very obviously not the case.  If I get a response I will update it here.

This is the garbled reply I got from Google re the export option for data from a particular period.

We thank you for reaching our social support. We are the team supporting Fitbit customers in Australia.

We're happy to assist you about the data export concern on your Inspire 3.

We know that you want to export the data on a fixed time period. We recommend checking this link for more details: How do I export Fitbit data?  If you can find the data on a fixed time period, meaning this features is not yet avaibale.

We hope this gets you back on track. If you have additional questions about your Fitbit device or service support.fitbit.com

So what they appear to be saying is that the transfer of your Fitbit Account to Google means that you have to export ALL your Fitbit data even if you only want to export 1 week or 1 month.  Why this is the case I have absolutely no idea why they are making this service even worse.

And the latest response :

"To export Fitbit data based on a fixed time period, log into your Fitbit account on the website, go to "Settings," then select "Data Export," choose your desired time frame, select the data categories you want to include, and finally click "Request Data" to download your data in a file format like CSV. "

And unfortunately I cannot imagine where to look.  I tried the old fitbit site ..... redirected, this support site ..... nothing .... back into the iOS app .... crickets.

So I have asked them to provide the URLs for the page i should be on and some screen shots to help me find the options they are referring to.

I will let you know when there is a reply

I sent Support another email asking them to provide screenshots so I can find the elusive settings they mentioned in the last email and got this reply.

Thank you for getting back to us.

We appreciate your efforts in trying to troubleshoot the issue.

We acknowledge the screenshot provided.

We will forward the screenshot to our support for us to further review.

We recommend checking your email regularly for the next instruction.

If you have additional questions about your Fitbit device or service, visit support.

Lovely to get a response so quickly ….. though it would have been much better to have received a solution.

Hopefully the next post will be an actual solution to the original support question.

Another response from Fitbit Support.

"We hope you're having a great day.

This is in regard to the export data on your Inspire 3.

We received a new update from our support. Thanks for letting us know about this issue. We’re currently working to resolve it and hope to have a fix soon. Be sure to keep your Fitbit device and app up-to-date to ensure you receive the quickest resolution.

We're sorry for any trouble. We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you back on track.

Thanks for understanding. If you have any other questions about your Fitbit device or services, visit support"

It certainly does not get us any closer to a solution ..... or anything.  Though the lines of communication are still open but honestly hopelessly garbled.

Tune in for the next installment ....

Apparently the reply I posted above was the resolution …… I can only assume that as I just received and responded, not very positively I might add, to the Customer Support Survey.

In the fitbit app, when viewing a single workout that uses GPS, the "Export Exercise" option will appear in the three-dot menu, or hamburger menu, in the upper right corner.  The "Export exercise" option does not appear for non-GPS workouts.

The ability to export non-GPS workouts should be added.
