Which exercise mode?

I want to track my exercise when doing circuit training/HIIT at my gym. Which exercise mode should I select? HIIT, Circuit training, Strength training?  What is the Fitbit actually doing in these modes?

It really makes little difference what activity you choose.  It's not as if Fitbit uses the activity to calculate calories; they are all based on heart rate.  The activity chosen has just 2 purposes: (1) for your own record to help you remember what you were doing each workout, (2) sometimes it changes which stats it shows shows in limited space in the workout summary that shows after the workout;  it doesn't change any stats, just which it displays; for instance it might display step count after a walk but not after weight lifting.

Most people don't understand this and get upset about why don't you add such-and-such an activity, when it doesn't really matter.  Fitbit 'Help" section used to have a section saying to use whichever activity comes closest to what you are doing, and if nothing is close, just use 'Workout'.

There are a couple of exceptions I guess I should mention.  There are 2 or 3 cases where the choice of an outdoor name does not count the distance toward daily mileage but that has nothing to do with calorie calculation and nothing to do with your situation.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

@hola.alethea   I don't own a Charge 6, but the Charge 6 specs (in the Fitbit Store) lists 40+ exercise modes.  I pretty sure you have the same 40+ modes that I have on my Sense 2.  It includes HIIT and Circuit Training.  Try scrolling through that list again.  Choosing between these two can help you keep your workout history organized.  But @JohnnyRow is right about many of the shortcuts.  They are identical algorithms with different labels.
