Exact same problem. Have tried the same steps. What brand phone do you use? I've got a Huawei.

I have a Samsung, I've spoke to two different people on their 24hr chat and the issue is being escalated further, if i have any success i will post the results. I'm so annoyed, this will probably be my last fitbit at this rate. very disappointed

Don't move to Google account.  Stay in Fitbit till 2025 as mentioned by Fitbit.

I ended up with a newer Android phone because the problem was with the
phone software, not with Fitbit. 🙄

Wow I thought it was only me. I upgraded my wife's account from a charge five to a charge 6 on the 28th February and got locked out when I had to transfer to google.

I originally used her old e mail which had been used with Fitbit for quite a few years with no problem, Google then locked her out I e mailed support which so far has been no help as they say its googles issue. Called and e mail google, who just tell me it will take time and sooo sorry for the wait, but that it is Fitbit supports issue.

😟I e mail them once a week but to no avail. there is a long thread on this a couple of pages down.

Now I am told that her 6 is synching but we cant use Fitbit on phone of i pad as Google does not recognise the account.

We will ALL have to migrate to Google by 2025, I am told that they have 37 million users, if unfortunately like me someone appears to make a small mistake on transfer then both they and Google are going to have loads and loads of calls. It wont be good for  product which has been excellent for us for so many years.

I know how it is! I like Fitbit a lot, but I wasn't happy I had to get a
new phone in order to continue using it.

Hello Rob,

I don't think you can I certainly would not have upgraded my wife's if I had realised. I see from the blogs that some people have had to change their phones they should not feel forced to do this.

Sorry to keep banging on about this but I will continue until someone from Fitbit, to whom I and many people have been loyal customers for years sort this out and give me an answer to my wife's synching problem. Google are hopeless as well, what are we paying for!!!!!!!!!!

I am still  waiting for this to be sorted out and for Fitbit or Google to restore her account, I get the odd e mail apologising but this has been going on since the 28th Feb.

New people should be aware before they change over to google from Fitbit, that they should either.

  • already use a gmail account so they can use that.
  • be prepared to open one especially for Fitbit use, even though they will probably never use it again.
  • make doubly sure that they don't make any small mistakes when transferring over to google, (like I did), because IF you do they cant sort it our because the IT system they have thinks you are a fraud and closes your account.

What a pity such great system before google got involved.

I am thinking of changing my nom de plume from cyclingkeith to FRUSTRATED STILL WAITING 😫.

Good luck all.

@arthurc2000

Staying with a Fitbit account won't work with newer devices like the Charge 6,  they require a Google account to setup the device.

When logging into the fitbit account, i switched my email that i usually use to my gmail. And then i put in my password (i was able to guess it), and i was able to get in. However, I seem to have lost data... oh well.

@aultysa are you still using the option to log in with an email address?

Or do you use the log in with your Google account.

Yes, I used the option to log in with an email address and used my gmail address. I didn't use the "sign in with google" option.

@aultysa

@Rich_Laue has the correct solution, try using the Continue with Google option. I had the same issue when I first moved my account to Google.
