My Fitbit charge 5 suddenly showed a couple heart rate spikes but since I had not noticed anything and the fitbit charge 5 died 2 days later, I was not concerned. My fitbit charge 6 then showed a heart rate spike and although I did not notice anything, I thought I should have a check up. Both ECG and Echcarogram were unremarkable. I also realised that so far has only occurred if I wear it on my left wrist and at no time did the charge 6 notify me of a high heart rate. I believe that the watch is fitted correctly and it is not moving even when I am rowing. Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone got any answers about why this is happening and how to stop it. I do not consider wearing it on my right wrist as a long term solution.
Thanks for your help.

Do double check that the sensors on the back of the watch are really clean - no build-up scunge - alcohol swab maybe. Ditto for your wrist. Also assure that the watch is not running low on battery charge. I also might be inclined to try a different wrist band as that might hold it more securely. I would also suggest making sure that a highly salted snack wasn't in the mix... 🙂 Something like miso can sneak up on you!

Many thanks for your reply and your suggestions.
However, unfortunately I do not think they apply in this instance. The Fitbit charge 6 is new and the back is very clean, the charge was approx 80%, wrist band was a sports version and the fitbit was secure ( I used this type on the Ftbit charge 5 for at least two years without any anomalous high readings, and I had not eaten any salty snacks.
Do you know when the latest update occurred? This has only happened since the 28th of June and I am wondering if it is a software update gone wrong. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks

You could check here for updates though it doesn't give a date

I did check mine and saw a spike yesterday to 135 around 4pm and remembered that was about when I was realizing I had to dash if I wanted to catch a particular bus. Maybe the spike is valid, just not the amount...? I'll be more attentive to it!

Just for information. I did a little test today. I went for a walk using walking poles. With my Fitbit on my left wrist I charged up a short hill. Got a spike of 171. Took a rough count of my heart rate. No higher than 125. Half an hour later charged up the same hill with my fitbit on my right wrist. Saw nothing higher than about 125 which I would have expected.
I have never had this problem before but it seems the it can not handle the flexing of my left wrist as I row or use walking poles. It is extremely annoying especially this has only happened in the last couple of months so it is unlikely to be a limitation of the tecnology.
I have seen many people complain on line but hopefully enough people will complain via the community so that someone will look into this.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to me

High & Low heart rate notifications are only sent when you're resting and the heart rate is above or below the limits you set . You will not get a notification if you're active..
