Threaded Messaging

Taunting, Cheering and messaging within the app is fun, however only being able to see my friends messages to me and not my responses, makes the banter much less entertaining. Almost all IM, SMS, Skype and chat programs allow the user to see the entire conversation (both sides of it). Please Fix the Chat to show the full conversation!

Seems kind of pointless without this capability.

Gosh, 3 years later and the "great idea we'll look into this idea" rings hollow. Is there any moderator that can jump in here to comment on the status of this suggestion? For so much high-tech cutting edge technology that we love in the Fitbit products, this one way messaging system is so archaic and is like talking through cans with a string attached. It's so exciting to see all the great ideas posted here on this wish list but something like this seems to be that missing essential feature that surely could have happened way before even the Adventure challenges and the community feed Robot tongue Please let us know if this is really going to happen Woman Very Happy

Not having the ability to track a 2-way conversation for both parties to see the full communication is a horrible oversight from the technical lead.  Seems like a weakness in the business that leadership would overlook such an obvious feature.  You are already taking the time to track messages and route them to the receipt and you must be storing them in the database, so it should not be much work to fix this bug and show the full thread to both parties. This is a poor technical decision and it should be fixed right away...  Not years later.  It is like building a tracking watch but you forgot to track heart rate.  That is the same level here since everyone on planet earth is accustomed to having the ability to view a full conversation from a chat app.  Sad sad sad...  Show me one other app in the world that only shows you one side of a conversation! Maybe back in 1985 that would have been the case.

This is the most annoyingly glaring omission from the app. Showing only one side of the conversation is pointless. It can't be to save storage on their servers, because both sides of the conversation are saved (messages that you sent are still accessible by your friends).

This is not only annoying but a waste of time as, after 3+ years of being under constrain, we get no responses

from Fitbit.

I would like to suggest being able to see messages sent via the fitbit messaging app. Anyone else wish to share this experience? Fitbit team please make it happen.

Hilarious 😄 There are so much holes to fill in the software department of your products. Take care of your users, once gone they will tell everyone they know not to buy your products.

How do I get off this thread I haven't used Fitbit in a couple of years ... I can't believe this hasn't been an added feature by now . ridiculous!! Come on fitbit make your users Happy

I would like to have the feature in the app where I am able to see my "back and forth" conversations with my friends. As of now, all I can view is what has been sent to me and not what I have already sent. Also, need a way to be able to delete conversations once you are finished talking with your friends. Hopefully you, the developers, can make this awesome feature happen! Thanks for everything so far...I love my Fitbit!

I wonder why the developers implemented messaging in such a way. But having a proper chat experience with conversation view is a pretty basic thing to expect from an app which encourages being social. I would love to see a minimal conversation view messaging in the app, I'm sure I would use it a LOT more. As it stands, it is pretty much useless.

Hi @RipTide thanks for this suggestion. This has been very recently discussed with the relevant teams within fitbit and is not currently on our development roadmap. I understand that this will be frustrating but I wanted to share that update with you. Thanks for your suggestion.

At least there was an update on this issue. And after all these years its still not a priority its likely it never will be.

Really... this thread isn´t about a feature request... its a bug report! and it took you 1362 days to tell us it wont be fixed.

@LizFitbit tell us more about the development roadmap. Sure there must be more feature requests / bug reports that got discussed by the time this particular one got doomed. Wich more got trashed? any idea / bug that are actually on the development roadmap of getting implemented?

So sad that Fitbit developers can't prioritize a feature that users have been requesting for many years. It's nice that they finally said so out loud, but really?! They can show us text messages alerts on our Fitbits, but won't implement a message platform that allows two-way messaging between users?  Disappointing at best!

Please make the messages a thread. I thought my messages weren't sending because I couldn't read them after. Please fix this. Thanks lovely people! Xx

Sadly they announced they have no plans to fix this. Weird when it seems pretty basic.

Yes this idea should be implemented ASAP!

Yes! This has been bugging the heck out of me. I don’t always reply right after I get a message so sometimes I forget what the conversation was in the first place. Please oh please make this a thing!

I agree and don't understand why they can't make this happen.

It would be great to be able to see our sent messages and whether or not they were viewed in the app.

In addition, the messaging feature should allow for photos and videos and GIFs to be sent, should be able to copy an image from an external source and paste it into the message feature.

This is silly!  Still no fix for this?  Should have gotten a garmin😂
