Family group chat functionality?

I seem to recall the update information including details about the ability to create a family group chat, but that message is gone now. 

Did I imagine reading this or does this remain a work in progress? If the latter, is there an ETA on rolling the feature out?

You definitely didn't imagine reading it, I saw it as well. They had a banner on the Ace App stating an update was coming in November that would allow family members to message each other. Mysteriously that banner disappeared, yet I don't see any functionality changes on either my app or the watches.

How about it Google - any updates to when my own kids can talk to each other?!

My kids are now able to message one another. I just had to add one of them to the other's contacts and after that they were able to message each other. Not incredibly intuitive, sadly. 

However I don't see any way to do the group chat thing. Was looking forward to that because often times the message I want to send is meant for both of my kids, so I have to send two separate messages.

Hi both! We are currently rolling out Season 3 with family chat, sibling comms, and a host of new updates (more info in the Community Announcement). I know how much folks in the community wanted to see these features on Ace LTE, so thank you for your feedback (and patience) as we finished building and testing these with our advisor families. 

All going well today the update should be live for 100% of families by tomorrow! Please try them out and let me know any feedback to pass on to the team ✌️

There are also a few more community feature requests that we're putting the finishing touches on and will share with the forum in the next two weeks!

The family group chat is not live. We have the latest version of the app and our kiddos watch has been updated to season 3. I see the icon for family quests now in my Fitbit go app (I'm the family owner) but there's no option for family chat.

Hi @Shibaku it's great that you can see Quests! Family Chat is still rolling out and should be available over the next few days.

Great, thanks. It was a little confusing to see all of the announcements and documentation when it wasn't actually rolled out to devices.

Agreed. I still don't have it and all of the announcements make it look like everyone should have it by now. I have family quests but no family chat.

The feature is now fully rolled out so should be in everyone's app. Apologies this took a little longer than we hoped (the team had to iron out a small issue).

I can see the family chat tab on the bottom but when I click it, it says no one is there although my husband and I can both see the same thing and we are both there, it's not working. I'm in the process of updating my kids phone too but discouraging that it's not working for at least the 2 adults with the app

Hi @LidiaCorey, is your child's Ace LTE on the latest software (just below Daily Quests, it should say 'You are Playing Season 3 - Family Matters')? We just want to be sure the watch is also on the latest software before suggesting another step.

Thanks for the updates this month (Nov 2024).  One related request - it would be great if we could create chat groups with a subset of our Google family.  For example, an option to have a chat with Kid #1 and both parents, and then a separate chat with Kid #2 and both parents, in addition to the entire "Family Chat".  I wasn't expecting the "Family Chat" to be an all or nothing.
