Fix issues with the Find Phone app on Versa 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

1) Add the ability to toggle off the "Find Phone" button from the Fitbit Versa 2 from the Fitbit phone app to avoid accidental toggling of this feature under any circumstance.
2) Make the ping gradually increase in volume instead of going straight to max volume.
3) Ping just the phone speaker and not paired headphones or paired Bluetooth speakers.

@FitbitSupport on twitter directed me to post here. This is what I DMed with FitbitSupport:

Me: "Please add a warning for the new “find phone” feature on Fitbit Versa 2. I was wearing earbuds and your find phone feature blasted my ears with the loudest sound possible through my earphones and not the phone!!! My ears are ringing now. You are going to damage the hearing of people who are not prepared for this. Fix this immediately. Forward this to whoever pushed out the latest update."

FitbitSupport: "HI, Nath! This is not the experience we want you to have while using the new feature of your Fitbit Versa 2. We would like to confirm if the sound is the same even if you tone down the volume? About your feedback, get the attention of our Product Teams by sharing your ideas on our Suggestions Board: [Link to this suggestion board] We'll see you there!"

Me: "I am using an iPhone 6S iOS 13.6.1 and the Fitbit Versa 2 is the new software version 35.71.6.19. The new find phone button on the watch turns the volume immediately up to maximum, and that’s for any audio device that the phone is currently set to play through, headphones Bluetooth speaker etc, and immediately blasts the loudest sound. I was wearing earbuds and this did not ping the phone, it turned up the audio on the earbuds to the max and played the sound into my ears. Afterwards, I also tested this with a Bose Bluetooth speaker and it did the same thing, turned the volume on iOS, visible on the iPhone control center as the volume being turned up to max and then back down to the volume you had it at between pings. This feature is implemented in a dangerous way especially if the feature is activated on the watch accidentally while people are wearing headphones or paired to loudspeaker systems"

Hello Lizzy, I know it’s a new feature so I’ll just clarify that the “find phone” feature I’m referring to is a new feature built into the Versa 2 watch apps screen since the latest device software update. I am not referring to Apple’s app. This issue is in regard to a Fitbit product specifically.

I just figured out that the "Find Phone" app could be deleted from the Versa 2 via the Fitbit phone app. When I deleted it I made sure to check and it was an official Fitbit app and not 3rd party. It seems that the official "Find Phone" by Fitbit app has also been removed from the "All apps" store, so I'm guessing that the issues with the app have made their way to the team.

In the meantime, I recommend everyone delete this official Fitbit "find phone" app from their watch to prevent this scenario I ran into earlier today.

Attached are photos of the official "by Fitbit" app that I was referring to. Anyone who has this app still installed on their Versa 2 should delete it.

I find it hard to believe that someone could accidentally press the find my phone.

It will take

  • the correct amount of left swipes, 3 for me
  • a tap in the proper corner, liwer right
  • Then a second tap on the lower portion of the screen
