The Microsoft Band 2 had a great app that used the accelerometer and GPS along with Course maps to give you current yards to hole, tracked your swings and such, any news if there will be a golf app for the fitbit Ionic?

We did it! They finally put it out!
I'm hopefully playing this afternoon so lets hope it was worth the wait!

Yes, finally, or perhaps more correctly ALMOST. I updated the OS and download the app. From what I can see it falls very short of the mark.
It looks like a rangefinder only not a complete app. I will try it out and report back if I am wrong but the real app uses 'tags' to track the club you are using. Without that there isn't any useful information on club distance, etc.
The original version used a belt clip unit to read the tags. later versions for Android phones use the built in NFC capability (as I recall).
I do not see any mention of reading tags through the Ionic NFC capability which would be very slick and make it a true tracking app.
I hope I get to recant. BUT, as it stands now this is not a fully developed tracking application and I am really tempted to but the Ionic on the 'Bay.'
I did by the Wear Phone (Huawei) which has a fully integrated GolfPad GPS application that is functional.
So far as I can see just more evidence that Fitbit has basically delivered 'vaporware.'
Over promise and under deliver seems to be the mode of operation. Too bad because using the NFC to read the tags from Ionic would be a kickass app against the competition. I guess the boat has sailed. 😞

What an Ionic morning, I get the OS2 update notice and see these notices about Gamegolf being available.
Loaded OS2.0 without issue in less then 30 minutes, looks good and noticably faster amongst other things.
Found and installed the Gamegolf app and added my three most played courses and synced them to my watch, all without any issues. It looks like a simple app, front, middle and back distances to the hole which is fine with me.
I'll be playing 9 holes tomorrow so I'll try it out. I'll have my Garmin on at least the first time to check accuracy etc. but hopefully be able leave the Garmin home after this round, which was one of my main goals when buying the Ionic.
I'll let you all know how it goes.

Do you know if the app also counts steps, like the sports mode does? Or is it simply for course navigation? I know if the app doesn’t do the exercise the Ionic will auto detect it. I was just curious. Thanks!

Hey SantiFitbit! I held the faith and am really glad Fitbit came through! We are supposed to get over a foot of snow tonight & tomorrow, so I won’t be able to try out my fully downloaded & ready to roll Ionic Golf Game but I can’t wait to try it! Thanks

Just purchased my Ionic today. One of the key apps of interest was the game Golf. Still not showing up as an option.

Hahaha - Iconic and useful apps! This is a paradox...
The Iconic is a very good paper weight... I took mine back and told them that there were no useful apps and they refunded me the money (over 2 months ago). Fitbit have not done anything to speed this process up... They marketed all of this and nothing eventuated...

Hi SantiFitbit
There are many golf courses missing in my area on fitbit, but not in the game golf app for android.
Will they come soon?
