The app does not recognize "calories". Instead it applies the value from "Fat" calories to mean the total calories per serving. Example: Calories 110 / Fat calories 54 / Fat grams 6 — It will enter this food in the log as "54 calories". If you leave fat calories BLANK, it enters the food as being ZERO calories per serving. The only way it works is to enter the fat calories as being equal to the total calories per serving (obviously false, and skewing the dietary says). Also the decimal place option has disappeared from the numerical keypad, so you can’t enter 1.5 grams of fat... it has to be either 1... or 2 grams. Help!

That is a known problem in the IOS app, to be fixed in the next software update. Until then, it should work correctly if you use web entry in fitbit.com dashboard.

Thanks very much. The web dashboard is a bit archaic. I may wait for the update release and fix those entries later on. I appreciate your help.
