Hi,
I received an Ionic for Christmas but I am unable to work out how to get the Weather App to work.
I currently get the message "Go to the Fitbit App to setup the Weather"
Thanks

My Fitbit is a charge 3. I have the weather app on my iPhone and my watch is synced to my phone. The Fitbit keeps telling me to sync to my phone. I go in to put the city’s I what and it won’t let me save them.

Hi!
This might help...:
- Open the fitbit app on your phone
- Click on the phone icon at the upper left corner
- Click on Apps
- Scroll down to Weather and click on the setting icon on the right side of the line
- Click on Add city
- Type your city name. Note that you have to wait for the app to actually locate that city in its database. If it finds your city, it will be listed below on the screen. Click on the city that you want your app to remember. If it does not list up any hits, it means that your city is not in their database
- If the city was in the database and you have selected it, it will appear in the list
- Click on the Back icon and go back to the initial screen for your fitbit app
- Your watch should now be synced
I hope this will help you 🙂

Hey there @jlyder, thanks a lot for helping out! Have you tried those suggestions @Canoe7100?
If the issue persist, I'd appreciate if you can let me know with the following:
- What OS is your iPhone running?
- What version of the Fitbit app you have installed?
- What Firmware Version does your Charge 3 have?
Looking forward to your reply.

I bought the Fitbit recently and got the same issue. After 30' of trying and searching on the forum, I did the following and all of the weather stuff solved:
1/ Make sure your Fitbit device and your phone stay on the SAME wifi.
2/ Turn off all of running apps on your PHONE. (double click on the home button and swipe up to turn them off- I'm using an Iphone 8 Plus btw)
3/ Open the fitbit app on your phone and look for device -> then app -> then weather -> at this POINT you should be able to see a little GEAR button which allows you to search for city.
4/ Press sync on your Fitbit App on your Phone.
5/ I hope you got it worked and smiling right now as you reading this.
Cheers.

Welcome on board @syndafer, it's nice to have a new member around! Thanks a lot for taking the time to share the steps that have worked for you. I'm pretty sure they will help other users!
Additionally to what your shared, I'd recommend always taking a look at: How do I set up and troubleshoot apps on my Fitbit device?

Where did you get the Accuweather app for Fitbit? It's not in the list of compatibles. We already have it installed on our phone, but we're currently stuck with "missing location data" conundrum for the internal weather app from Fitbit.

I’ve done some weather watchface development. I wrote and published the watch-face called Katana. I may have a couple of useful insights to this which can apply to most of these weather watchfaces. Weather watchfaces are actually comprised of two parts, one runs on the watch (watch app) and the other runs on the phone (companion app). What I have seen is that the communications link between these two occasionally stops working, this may be something in the watch but my theory is that the phone OS (iOS in my case) is doing something to shut it down. For this reason I added a link status icon and a “last weather update time” to my watchface to help detect when this happens and when I’ve been able to fix it. I’ve listed what I have learned below. I think these steps should work for most of these weather watchfaces.
1. Most of the time I can fix this state by going to the Fitbit app and doing a resync. This seems to wake the link back up most of the time.
2. If this does not fix the issue then I press one of the right buttons on the watch to go to the watch app menu and then press the left button to go back to the watchface. This causes the watchface to reload.
3. If this does not fix the issue (rare) the I reset the watch and phone.
I hope this helps. I know this can be annoying. Wanting a reliable weather watchface was one reasons I started developing my own watchface.
Steve

Hey there @Nola45, thanks for stopping by! To set up the Weather app:
- Open the Fitbit app and tap the Account icon > your device image.
- Tap Apps.
- Tap the gear icon next to Weather. You may need to scroll down to find the app.
- By default, the Weather app shows your current location, which can't be deleted. Add up to 2 additional locations you want to see in the Weather app.
- Sync your device with the Fitbit app. It can take a few minutes to see the updated list of locations on your device.
If the weather for your current location doesn’t appear, check that you turned on location services for the Fitbit app. For instructions, see How do I allow the Fitbit app to use my phone's GPS?
If you change locations, sync your device to see your new location in the Weather app.
Thanks for sharing the steps that have worked for you my friend @SteveHDev!

Worked great on my Charge 3. Thx
@USAF-Larry wrote:@caddickd, in the Fitbit app, open the Ionic device screen, select apps -> My Apps -> Weather -> Settings Gear Icon. There, set it to Current Location, or add preferred cities that you wish to know the weather in, and save it. Sync the tracker.

I have a fitbit iconic for one day. My location is Perth Australia. When you go to app settings and weather setup, you cannot add a location. The app crashes on entering the first letter.
The time zone is set up as Perth. All app permissions are set in the Android phone. Please fix. Thanks.

You're very welcome @Coco1950!
Welcome on board @NSure! Thanks for the detailed information about this inconvenience. While reading your post I was wondering if you have made sure that your Fitbit app and Fitbit Ionic are running the latest version? If so, please do the following:
- Log out of your Fitbit app
- Force quit the app
- Restart your watch
- Turn off the Bluetooth
- Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
- Turn on the Bluetooth
- Log back into your Fitbit app
Once you've completed those steps, please follow the instructions I provided in this post. Follow them one-by-one.
Let me know the outcome!
