How to setup the Weather App

Hi,

I received an Ionic for Christmas but I am unable to work out how to get the Weather App to work.

I currently get the message "Go to the Fitbit App to setup the Weather"

Thanks

The issue remains. Has anyone actually “solved” the issue?  When the weather app on the fitbit itself shows my location but asks me to “sync the mobile app”?

How do I set up weather on my fit bit

Hi there @sgarnott, thanks for jumping in here! If the weather for your current location doesn’t appear, check that you turned on location services for the Fitbit app. For instructions, see How do I allow the Fitbit app to use my phone's GPS?

If you change locations, sync your device to see your new location in the Weather app.

To change the units used for the temperature in the Weather app:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap the Account icon > your device image.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the gear icon next to Weather. You may need to scroll down to find the app.
  4. In the Temperature Unit section, tap Units and choose the unit you want to use.
  5. Sync your device and then open the Weather app on your device to see the updated units.

Hello there @AndyAtkins! Thanks for troubleshooting this. Nice way to go!

Are you using the default Weather app from Fitbit or a Third-Party one? May I have the name of it? If you have been having syncing difficulties, please see: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Hope this helps, keep me in the loop! Smiley Very Happy

OK, so now it suddenly works. Part of the issue, I think, is that the Fitbit needs to be connected to WiFi at the time of sync. Also there is a lot of confusion that comes from not being clear as to when the advisor is referring to 1) the Fitbit App on a phone vs 2) the watch itself vs 3) Fitbit.com on a computer.

At times you need to be navigating among all three of these, and then there are numerous “settings” referred to. All in all, it pays to be precise.

Thanks for getting back @AndyAtkinsSmiley Very Happy I'm glad to hear that your Weather is working now.

In regards to the confusion you highlighted, I'll be more than glad to clarify this.

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap the Account icon > your device image. > Done in the Fitbit app
  2. Tap Apps. > Done in the Fitbit app
  3. Tap the gear icon next to Weather. You may need to scroll down to find the app. > Done in the Fitbit app
  4. In the Temperature Unit section, tap Units and choose the unit you want to use. > Don in the Fitbit app
  5. Sync your device and then open the Weather app on your device to see the updated units. > Done in the tracker/watch itself

Let me know if you have more questions!

@sgarnott, in order to properly setup the weather app, I suggest doing the following:

  1. Open the Fitbit app and tap the Account icon > your device image. > Done in the Fitbit app
  2. Tap Apps. > Done in the Fitbit app
  3. Tap the gear icon next to Weather. You may need to scroll down to find the app. > Done in the Fitbit app
  4. In the Temperature Unit section, tap Units and choose the unit you want to use. > Don in the Fitbit app
  5. Sync your device and then open the Weather app on your device to see the updated units. > Done in the tracker/watch itself

Hello,  I don't know if anyone who needs this information still.  But,  Have you tired (Updating the Fitbit and TURNING OFF then TURNING on your Bluetooth on your cell phone.  I did that one time after not having my weather for almost 8 months and it worked.

... but make sure you do this from your phone.  Attempting this from your watch or your computer will waste a lot of time.

Would really LOVE actual clarification on this. My phone’s only Fitbit app setting options for weather have temperature (Celsius vs Farenheight) and city. City never works. Only Current location is able to be selected. Changing some setting had once or twice worked to get the weather back on my phone. But recently nothing. The message “sync the Fitbit mobile app to update” is useless.

I went to my Fitbit app on my iPad, located the weather app, clicked it, manually keyed in the name of my city.  Bingo.  It now shows up on my Versa 2.  For some reason the “current location” was t working, was t picking up my city.

Just figured out to how to sync charger 3 with phone to get current location for weather to work. Go to all apps on the fitbit app on iphone, go to weather, select permissions, and toggle it green. Works great current location and 2 additional locations
