How is it possible that dispite all the advertising certain apps aren't even availible on this (Charge 4) device? I can't even install spotify! This is ridiculous. How can this be fixed?

Unfortunately, the Charge 4 needs to have its firmware updated before the Spotify app will install. See the following thread for more details:

Thank you for your reply. I received this thing yesterday and updated it before I put it on. So I need to do an additional firmware update?

I've had a quick look at that main post and it's not clear to me whether you have the very latest version. If you don't get another update within a day or two and still have a problem then I would post in that main thread as that's being monitored by Fitbit.

Hi Steve, good question. I got mine last Wednesday and had to do one update before wearing it. Does that answer your question? So I'm guessing I have the latest? I'll wait a couple of days and see if anything changes.
