I've only had my Ionic a few days. I had one that Amazon replaced because of a scratched screen. I never had problems with the weather app on the old one. It took me a bit to check and remember I had to input the city for the weather app to work with the new Ionic. I did that and I'm pretty sure I've checked the weather without a problem since.
Now, every time I go into the weather app on the Ionic, it tells me to sync with my phone app for updates. Syncing doesn't update. I went into the phone app, thinking I'd remove the city and add it again. When I enter the name of the city, the list of matches doesn't show up like it did before.
I'm pretty sure I checked the weather on this particular Ionic in the last day or so and it was working. It shows my city and the neighborhood where I live now, but no weather information.
There was an update for the android app last night, so I can only presume that's the source of the problem.
Moderator edit: updated subject for clarity & added label
It appears the app isn't requesting my location. Or at least my phone isn't reporting that it's requesting my location. Unlike Vons...
Best AnswerDo you have both of your locations explicitly added to the City list?
IOW, the first location should be "Current Location",
then the specific locations added.

Not beta.
Best Answer@BobWang Yes. current location was there already. I added my city. Also, I discovered that the app turned off auto-location, but I turned it back on. I thought to delete the weather app and install it again, but fitbit won't let you uninstall that app. I deleted the city and added it again. Nope. In fact, I just noticed that the "Sync the Fitbit App to Update" message is back if I scroll down a tiny bit.
Best AnswerI think there comes a time when a watch is asked to do too much..... and I think that time is now for the Ionic.
I have an awesome little mp3 player that straps to my arm, has amazing sound, holds a ton of music and is ridiculously easy to put music on, I have a great Bluetooth earpiece and handsfree setup on my phone so almost never need to pull it out of my pocket.... so no watch notifications needed. All I need out of my fitness watch is to be great at fitness 😉
Quite often simpler things work better 🙂
I've been recently given a lightly used surge that the original owner gave up on.... it actually works better than the brand new one I bought and returned. I got it because the original owner couldn't get the notifications to work on it. I don't use those, and as just a fitness tracker with built-in GPS it works great 🙂
