About: Community Ranks

ANSWERED

What does it mean to be a Jogger, Hill Runner, or 5K Racer anyway?
Your rank is an indication of your involvement in the Fitbit Community. If you continually visit the forums, your rank will change to reflect the time you've spent here. By posting and contributing to discussions, you may progress even further through the rank structure and unlock additional account priveleges.

Your Rank title is displayed beneath your profile picture and Community name.

What determines my rank?

Post count is not the only factor that is included in the rank formula--that would be too simple! In addition to creating content for the Community, you get points when your answers are voted up or accepted as solutions. Voting for other helpful posts and being the first to respond to other member's questions can bring you even closer to achieving your next rank.

How can I rank up?

The easiest way to rank up is to visit often and add value where you can. The rank structure was developed to compliment the wide variety of ways you can engage with your fellow Fitbitters. As a community member, you can vote for the posts you find helpful, post new questions and then identify and approve the solution that helped you most (these are called Accepted Solutions). You can also comment on feature suggestions and start new discussions around topics of interest. It's a combination of these activities that will help you to achieve the next rank.

Hint: Scroll to the bottom of any community board and click through to posts in the Unanswered Topics section to help new members, rack up more points, and earn yourself a place on the Most Helpful Authors leaderboard!

I skipped a rank, is this normal?
Ranking formulas are calculated using Boolean logic. Your journey through the rank system might not be as straightforward as Jogger > Recovery Runner > Base Runner. You could actually skip from Jogger all the way to Strider if the conditions were right. For example, if you started off taking your First Steps and then posted 10 times, but didn’t receive any votes on those 10 posts until 100 days later, by which time you had posted 20 more times and received 5 Accepted Solutions, you might jump ahead to becoming a Strider even though you’d have skipped a good 3 ranks in the process.

I don't identify as a runner at all, can I opt out or customize my rank title?

Community ranks are designed as a lighthearted way to encourage engagement and offer other members a little extra insight into your participation here. They are not linked to any individual preference or setting, and it's not possible to opt-out.

Community ranks and reputation

While ranks can give you a general understanding of how much expertise another member has and how engaged they are in the community, the best way to get to know fellow community members is by striking up a conversation with them! You can also learn more about the other members here by visiting their profile page (to view another member's profile page, click on their community username).

On occasions a post goes astray and at regular intervals I check that I'm still subscribed to the topic I have been posting to... Even at the sub topic level.

Enjoy your "climb up the ranks".

We need Fitbit have a double points week like the supermarkets etc....

To not ignore health or other important things like work but doing in combination with helping out on the forums..

Knowing a online game, where one user didn't go to work (given up on work).. just for getting the highest experience on his online avatar..

Myself being active in that game for many hours a day years ago when younger, while not focusing on health either and being sedentary lots of the time..

What I want to say with is to take care of yourself as well. Cat Embarassed

@Colinm39  Double points week?  Now that is just a silly idea!  We have our new individual challenges and those are FUN!  However, it did take me SIX days to do the second one, thanks to an uncooperative body part.  The mind was willing, but the body simply was NOT able to cooperate.  BUT....today is another day and I'm gonna kick it in gear, no matter what!!

Ok..... so do I get points for this... lol  No joking, thanks for the info, I didn't know anything about this til I just got your notice saying I moved up to Jogger....  This approach to getting healthy and staying that way is very ingenious.  I like it.

I'm surprised that I'm at such a high rank. I have only posted a few times, and I've hardly been here much at all. Maybe I liked or high fived stuff a lot, I don't remember.

I went from jogger to recovery runner today. I've been getting so many emails about a topic that I posted on. I usually just read the email and delete. I noticed a few minutes ago that by reading the email, it counts! It is very annoying ,though, to get emails all the time about something I posted months ago.

I was annoyed when my profile showed I was a Jogger because I never selected that when setting up my profile. But then I got an email showing I'd moved up the community ranks. Still not a jogger, but I'll take it for now. 🙂

I am pleased to have moved up...but for the last 2 weeks or more I have been unable to sync my tracker to the FitBit app, so all my efforts are not being recorded. I have been reading posts in the help forum, but nothing has solved the problem. I am frustrated beyond belief!!!

@K1tty  I had a similar problem with my first tracker, a Flex.  But this apparently can happen to any of us, no matter what tracker you may have.  Contact Customer Service via email and ask for help.  Your tracker will retain history for a month, so best to do this ASAP so you don't lose your data.  It took several emails to resolve the problem for me, so hopefully they can help you before you lose data.  Customer Service is totally amazing IMHO.

Oh yeah, I am so NOT a Runner, but the ranking system is delightful to my way of thinking!  Smiley LOL

Just this last 2 weeks I had a issue and found customer service to be very helpful. Ultimately my charge Hr was replaced. I would think the tech folks could help. Customer service said my explaining "thoroughly" assisted them.
Hopefully your problem will be resolved as easily as mine.
Let us know how it goes. Best of luck:glowing_star:

@wtaylor19  It takes time!  Posting, reading forums, and being involved helps advance you up the ranks.  What's your hurry anyway??

Like Donna K said it's community involvement. What's great is you can learn and be motivated at the same time. It isn't a measure of progress towards your fitness goals and accomplishments. You'll find those much more motivating but if you find yourself lacking motivation the Fitbit community is a good way to reinvigorate yourself..Happy trails:glowing_star:
