About: Community Ranks

ANSWERED

What does it mean to be a Jogger, Hill Runner, or 5K Racer anyway?
Your rank is an indication of your involvement in the Fitbit Community. If you continually visit the forums, your rank will change to reflect the time you've spent here. By posting and contributing to discussions, you may progress even further through the rank structure and unlock additional account priveleges.

Your Rank title is displayed beneath your profile picture and Community name.

What determines my rank?

Post count is not the only factor that is included in the rank formula--that would be too simple! In addition to creating content for the Community, you get points when your answers are voted up or accepted as solutions. Voting for other helpful posts and being the first to respond to other member's questions can bring you even closer to achieving your next rank.

How can I rank up?

The easiest way to rank up is to visit often and add value where you can. The rank structure was developed to compliment the wide variety of ways you can engage with your fellow Fitbitters. As a community member, you can vote for the posts you find helpful, post new questions and then identify and approve the solution that helped you most (these are called Accepted Solutions). You can also comment on feature suggestions and start new discussions around topics of interest. It's a combination of these activities that will help you to achieve the next rank.

Hint: Scroll to the bottom of any community board and click through to posts in the Unanswered Topics section to help new members, rack up more points, and earn yourself a place on the Most Helpful Authors leaderboard!

I skipped a rank, is this normal?
Ranking formulas are calculated using Boolean logic. Your journey through the rank system might not be as straightforward as Jogger > Recovery Runner > Base Runner. You could actually skip from Jogger all the way to Strider if the conditions were right. For example, if you started off taking your First Steps and then posted 10 times, but didn’t receive any votes on those 10 posts until 100 days later, by which time you had posted 20 more times and received 5 Accepted Solutions, you might jump ahead to becoming a Strider even though you’d have skipped a good 3 ranks in the process.

I don't identify as a runner at all, can I opt out or customize my rank title?

Community ranks are designed as a lighthearted way to encourage engagement and offer other members a little extra insight into your participation here. They are not linked to any individual preference or setting, and it's not possible to opt-out.

Community ranks and reputation

While ranks can give you a general understanding of how much expertise another member has and how engaged they are in the community, the best way to get to know fellow community members is by striking up a conversation with them! You can also learn more about the other members here by visiting their profile page (to view another member's profile page, click on their community username).

@leona37

The following trackers are capable to track floors:

  • Fitbit One;
  • Charge / Charge HR;
  • Surge;

When having a tracker which counts floors, feel free to check out the Fitbit Article: How does my tracker count floors?

Feel free restarting the tracker:

Restart the tracker

Thank you very kindly @leona37

When restarting your tracker and your buddy not able to track floors..

It's possible to factory reset the tracker when desired, article can be found in the help section.

When that doesn't do the trick, the fitbit team can also be contacted.

Very interesting and a great way to share the knowledge of the Fitbit user and to motivate users.
After a few days when I started using my One, I discovered the Fitbit Communtiy and found many helpful posts from other Fitbit users.
Am sure to visit the community on a regular basis.

Hi,

I just started to post on these forums and already received two ranks. I've been a reader here for a couple of years already, but mostly in the Help- and Suggestions-sections.

Thanks for the informative first post. Really cool that the ranks is just not based on post count. I guess the ranking-system you've have here will motivate the users (us) to publish high quality posts.

This is great information and I can see the rankings and thus where I am now, however, what exactly does each rank mean? what do you have to do to move up the ranks other than post and be found helpful etc? I have just received an email saying I was a recovery runner. But i do't know what this means. I saw this ranking on ots of people in the forums and thought it meant what it said! ie these people were runners/joggers who had an illness and were therefore recovering...

Clearly as a newcomer this is all still a bit confusing... but I'm learning...

The ranks onto the forum don't have anything to do with your activity outside the forums.. ranks are gained by being active on the forum, receiving awesome votes from awesome people when finding your post(s) being helpful, by getting your post(s) marked as solution..

When not being on the forums for a while and getting votes.. for previous posts, it's even possible to gain a new rank.. thanks to the awesome community. Heart

This is great.

This is great, but I would rather Fitbit fix the "glitch" of not being able to start or join a challenge; that's been going on intermittently (for myself anyway) since June. For others, it's been happening since March!

Very helpful, thanks for the clarification!

Very helpful, now I know why I skipped 6-7 ranks!  I went from "Newbie" to "First Steps", to "Recovery Runner" to "Base Jogger"!

Thank you for the clarification regarding the Community rankings/names!😊 I just returned here from earlier this evening to see if I'd received a response about a Flex band swap, which is something I just found out about a day ago! I found an email waiting for me, saying that I'd earned a new ranking - from Stepping Up to Recovery Runner, and I had no idea how or why this new designation had come my way! lol Well, now I know!😉

Like Hats26, I had fallen to the wayside with my Fitbit! I've owned it for just over a year, but last year, I injured my right knee, the same knee in which my patella had been dislocated during a winter storm back home in Montreal, Canada many years ago!😁 Then, I fell ill with bronchial pneumonia, along with a severe ear infection, this past summer! I don't think that Missouri/Misery agrees with me! lol But, finally, I'm back on track and more motivated than ever, especially since I joined the TruVision Health 10k Pledge at the beginning of September/15! The goal is to walk 10k every day of a month in order to qualify for free products! I surpassed 15k at least 5 times in September and am working towards hitting 20k in a day!😊 Plus, the daily walking is helping me as a diabetic to lower my blood sugar over time. I have not missed a day of walking since I started up again towards the end of August/15!

I absolutely love my Fitbit Flex, but like Hats26, I'm still on a learning curve with it! The one thing that really motivates me is participating in challenges with friends and their friends! Most times, I find myself in multiple goal challenges - daily, workweek hustle, and Weekend Warrior!! Besides helping us complete our daily steps and then some, joining these challenges allows us the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends! A few of these people are friends in an online game I play who found out I had a Fitbit, like they did, and suggested we create daily goals together! A couple of the online friends didn't have Fitbits but went out to purchase them so that they could join us! One of the friends, who loves to run, said that once she bought her Fitbit and started using it, she saw how few steps she took during the day while at work. So, she's incorporated walking, along with her running on several days, as part of her exercise routine! Fitbit and other step counters are probably one of the best inventions to enter our lives and bring a level of improvement to our health and overall lifestyle!! I promote Fitbit products whenever I can!😍

I apologize for rambling on for so long, but I hope that some of what I've said may be the bit of encouragement that someone may need to "get walking" on a daily basis and reap the benefits of such a lifestyle change! If anyone wishes to add me as a friend and join me and others on daily goals, I welcome you to contact me! Thanks, and Good Luck, everyone on reaching your goals!!😊👟👟👟
