What does it mean to be a Jogger, Hill Runner, or 5K Racer anyway?
Your rank is an indication of your involvement in the Fitbit Community. If you continually visit the forums, your rank will change to reflect the time you've spent here. By posting and contributing to discussions, you may progress even further through the rank structure and unlock additional account priveleges.
Your Rank title is displayed beneath your profile picture and Community name.

What determines my rank?
Post count is not the only factor that is included in the rank formula--that would be too simple! In addition to creating content for the Community, you get points when your answers are voted up or accepted as solutions. Voting for other helpful posts and being the first to respond to other member's questions can bring you even closer to achieving your next rank.
How can I rank up?
The easiest way to rank up is to visit often and add value where you can. The rank structure was developed to compliment the wide variety of ways you can engage with your fellow Fitbitters. As a community member, you can vote for the posts you find helpful, post new questions and then identify and approve the solution that helped you most (these are called Accepted Solutions). You can also comment on feature suggestions and start new discussions around topics of interest. It's a combination of these activities that will help you to achieve the next rank.
Hint: Scroll to the bottom of any community board and click through to posts in the Unanswered Topics section to help new members, rack up more points, and earn yourself a place on the Most Helpful Authors leaderboard!
I skipped a rank, is this normal?
Ranking formulas are calculated using Boolean logic. Your journey through the rank system might not be as straightforward as Jogger > Recovery Runner > Base Runner. You could actually skip from Jogger all the way to Strider if the conditions were right. For example, if you started off taking your First Steps and then posted 10 times, but didn’t receive any votes on those 10 posts until 100 days later, by which time you had posted 20 more times and received 5 Accepted Solutions, you might jump ahead to becoming a Strider even though you’d have skipped a good 3 ranks in the process.
I don't identify as a runner at all, can I opt out or customize my rank title?
Community ranks are designed as a lighthearted way to encourage engagement and offer other members a little extra insight into your participation here. They are not linked to any individual preference or setting, and it's not possible to opt-out.
Community ranks and reputation
While ranks can give you a general understanding of how much expertise another member has and how engaged they are in the community, the best way to get to know fellow community members is by striking up a conversation with them! You can also learn more about the other members here by visiting their profile page (to view another member's profile page, click on their community username).
Let us know your favorite rank name in the comments below. If you have a suggestion for another rank title that fits with the walking/running metaphor these are based off of, shout it out!

You MAY be able to also track your "miles" with your device if you use a "real" bike by fastening to the foot strap. ADM has done this successfully. Just FYI. If requested, I can probably put you in touch with her . . .

pattipromqueen - Yes, it can be trying to find specific threads you want to revisit. In your profile on the right I believe it has a summarized listing of postings you've made as well as votes you received and given. Choosing those may provide more information that you may have been looking for. If you opt to receive E-mail on subjects you can easier keep up on topics that appeal to you; you can later unsubscribe if desired. After receiving an E-mail for responses or whatever, you can chosing those to go back to it to merely rest or directly to post another response. Yet another means is searching to find information within the box for that, new and old. Finally, more help is available by choosing Help and browsing Forum answers. It can be overwhelming on the amount of information. Like the web, the key is to be able to find what you want. If you can't within a reasonable amount of time, then post another question and someone will likely answer. When it's all said and done, you will hopefully improve your fitness physically and mentally and achieve your goals.

Thanks for the "promotion" but this is not my community name! This message carries an April, 2014, date so I am a bit confused. I understand that these rankings are just for fun but I am a walker, not a runner, so how am I ranked this way instead of in the walking community? Or maybe I'll just ignore the rank and have fun!

@bobolink47 remember, your Community rank is related to the number of times you've posted in the Community, whereas you can receive more badges/accomplishments based on actual physical activity!
