What does it mean to be a Jogger, Hill Runner, or 5K Racer anyway?
Your rank is an indication of your involvement in the Fitbit Community. If you continually visit the forums, your rank will change to reflect the time you've spent here. By posting and contributing to discussions, you may progress even further through the rank structure and unlock additional account priveleges.
Your Rank title is displayed beneath your profile picture and Community name.

What determines my rank?
Post count is not the only factor that is included in the rank formula--that would be too simple! In addition to creating content for the Community, you get points when your answers are voted up or accepted as solutions. Voting for other helpful posts and being the first to respond to other member's questions can bring you even closer to achieving your next rank.
How can I rank up?
The easiest way to rank up is to visit often and add value where you can. The rank structure was developed to compliment the wide variety of ways you can engage with your fellow Fitbitters. As a community member, you can vote for the posts you find helpful, post new questions and then identify and approve the solution that helped you most (these are called Accepted Solutions). You can also comment on feature suggestions and start new discussions around topics of interest. It's a combination of these activities that will help you to achieve the next rank.
Hint: Scroll to the bottom of any community board and click through to posts in the Unanswered Topics section to help new members, rack up more points, and earn yourself a place on the Most Helpful Authors leaderboard!
I skipped a rank, is this normal?
Ranking formulas are calculated using Boolean logic. Your journey through the rank system might not be as straightforward as Jogger > Recovery Runner > Base Runner. You could actually skip from Jogger all the way to Strider if the conditions were right. For example, if you started off taking your First Steps and then posted 10 times, but didn’t receive any votes on those 10 posts until 100 days later, by which time you had posted 20 more times and received 5 Accepted Solutions, you might jump ahead to becoming a Strider even though you’d have skipped a good 3 ranks in the process.
I don't identify as a runner at all, can I opt out or customize my rank title?
Community ranks are designed as a lighthearted way to encourage engagement and offer other members a little extra insight into your participation here. They are not linked to any individual preference or setting, and it's not possible to opt-out.
Community ranks and reputation
While ranks can give you a general understanding of how much expertise another member has and how engaged they are in the community, the best way to get to know fellow community members is by striking up a conversation with them! You can also learn more about the other members here by visiting their profile page (to view another member's profile page, click on their community username).
Let us know your favorite rank name in the comments below. If you have a suggestion for another rank title that fits with the walking/running metaphor these are based off of, shout it out!

I'm very new and have absolutely no clue as to what the ranks are or what they mean. Any one what to fill me in? Or is there some place to find this info that I'm not aware of.... as I am, on so many other things I can't find...
Thanks... Looking forward to finding out what each rank is, and what it's for.

@Health_4me As you can see from the first post in this thread, community ranks really just tell you who is more active/has been around the community longer. It's just kind of fun, but it does tell you who is a little more experienced than others. You gain rank by posting, having your answers accepted as solutions, getting votes, and in general just being active in the community.

Take care of yourself to, don't give up your health goals like wanting to reach daily steps, taking a bath for your precious body to relax.. or to rest more when your body is asking for.

@bestspectre I have 2 answers to your question:
1. You are getting emails about this topic probably because you are subscribed to this thread. If you unsubscribe, you will not get any more emails on it.
2. I think community ranks do help with your fitness because community is part of fitness. Sure, you can get fit on your own, but the group helps with questions, motivation and perserverence.

Hi Lidzau, Recovery Runner has nothing to do with you but it does have to do with your "level" of communication usage on this site. So look through what others have next to their pictures, it's just because they answer and ask questions.

@bestspectre I apologize if you did not like my tone. I certainly didn't mean to offend you.
This thread is about community ranks and how to achieve them. I do not see any "self-promotions" in this thread. What are you referring to?
Good for you for being self-motivated. I find the community helps me keep going. It's good that we're all different.
Enjoy your day.
@bestspectre wrote:
You may be correct, for some people that aren’t self motivating. I may be wrong but I signed on the thread to view it when I wanted to see what other may be saying about a topic, not get inundated with self promotions from FitBit. Not usually this blunt but your tone just seemed to bring it out.

Hi, here is some feedback on the running names. I think they're great. One of them I don't care for so much is "Recovery Runner". I just don't like the vibes. And what do you know, I went straight to it from Day 2 and have been there ever since!
I'm posting and trying to help people so I'll move to anything else.
Loving Fitbit, it is helping me so much to make the lifestyle changes I needed! 16 days straight making 10K steps!

@_Louise_ I agree with you about recovery runner. I'm not even sure what that is. Keep being active on the forums and I'm sure you'll move on soon.
Good job on your 10K record!
