About: Community Ranks

ANSWERED

What does it mean to be a Jogger, Hill Runner, or 5K Racer anyway?
Your rank is an indication of your involvement in the Fitbit Community. If you continually visit the forums, your rank will change to reflect the time you've spent here. By posting and contributing to discussions, you may progress even further through the rank structure and unlock additional account priveleges.

Your Rank title is displayed beneath your profile picture and Community name.

What determines my rank?

Post count is not the only factor that is included in the rank formula--that would be too simple! In addition to creating content for the Community, you get points when your answers are voted up or accepted as solutions. Voting for other helpful posts and being the first to respond to other member's questions can bring you even closer to achieving your next rank.

How can I rank up?

The easiest way to rank up is to visit often and add value where you can. The rank structure was developed to compliment the wide variety of ways you can engage with your fellow Fitbitters. As a community member, you can vote for the posts you find helpful, post new questions and then identify and approve the solution that helped you most (these are called Accepted Solutions). You can also comment on feature suggestions and start new discussions around topics of interest. It's a combination of these activities that will help you to achieve the next rank.

Hint: Scroll to the bottom of any community board and click through to posts in the Unanswered Topics section to help new members, rack up more points, and earn yourself a place on the Most Helpful Authors leaderboard!

I skipped a rank, is this normal?
Ranking formulas are calculated using Boolean logic. Your journey through the rank system might not be as straightforward as Jogger > Recovery Runner > Base Runner. You could actually skip from Jogger all the way to Strider if the conditions were right. For example, if you started off taking your First Steps and then posted 10 times, but didn’t receive any votes on those 10 posts until 100 days later, by which time you had posted 20 more times and received 5 Accepted Solutions, you might jump ahead to becoming a Strider even though you’d have skipped a good 3 ranks in the process.

I don't identify as a runner at all, can I opt out or customize my rank title?

Community ranks are designed as a lighthearted way to encourage engagement and offer other members a little extra insight into your participation here. They are not linked to any individual preference or setting, and it's not possible to opt-out.

Community ranks and reputation

While ranks can give you a general understanding of how much expertise another member has and how engaged they are in the community, the best way to get to know fellow community members is by striking up a conversation with them! You can also learn more about the other members here by visiting their profile page (to view another member's profile page, click on their community username).

I was wondering what that ment

I don't think they have any comments like they do for an actor in a play but it would be fun to think of one that would catch on to the running community, something like Don't forget to hit the head 1st,or Happy Running! Let's think of something that would catch on.

Hi!

Litza, for your request, is a yes and no, I had a bad experience online,

but, if the person feels comfortable go for it.

My advice doesn't give up too much information; this is one of my biggest problems,

Have fun,

Thank you so much.

I am sure that somewhere in the 23 pages (I just couldn't find it) of comments was a bit of detail beyond what the @FitbitCommunity posted originally about the ranks and how they are determined.  I have belonged and still belong to numerous community forum groups that have ranks based on Posts, Tenure on the board, and other items.  One forum I was even the moderator for a sub forum before the system retired.

But regardless of all those items... As I look at the list I have confusion.  Everyone starts at "First Steps" so logically your next rank after some items should be "Stepping Up", but instead I got "Recovery Runner" last evening...  Thus making for the confusion of how after only about 2 weeks on the forum and only about a few responses to comments and one or two posts could I move that many levels?

Any input and guidance here would be great, cause I know I look at the rank for weight of comment when considering how they are addressing an issue I am encountering or making other items.

Thanks,

@Andhanni The way the ranks are determined is not published anywhere, as far as I know. I think they keep some mystery about it. It is possible to skip several ranks, especially in the early going. As the ranks get higher, I suspect it's harder to jump from rank to rank.

If you can't remember the order of ranks and don't want to look it up, another way to tell how experienced someone is is to look at the numbers under the rank. They tell how many posts, how many votes and how many accepted answers that the person has.

Did not know about this until i received a ranking email. Awesome

But there is no explanation of what one needs to do to hit each milestone! Can someone explain that?

Best Answer

In the first post it's explained how to gain ranks.. though it's possible to get the next rank.. when not on the forums for a while.. it's unknown what the requirements are to reach a certain rank..

Knowing the exact requirements would make it to easy as well..

It's more fun when not expecting having reached the next rank but seeing it suddenly changed while on the forums, or getting the message in the email / private message on the forums having a new rank.. Cat Embarassed

Have Fun

How do I add a food without scanning the ba r. ?
Best Answer

at the top of the food screen you see bars, 123 and then the magnifying glass, click the magnifying glass start typing the title of the food like say "banana" and there will be a list pop up of things that have Banana in the title. Find the Banana that fits click it, then the item will show up, the time you ate it anytime, breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning snack, afternoon snack or evening snack. pick one the serving size may be able to save. so half a banana will change to .5 banana, and breakfast, and click log it. done. 🙂

If you know the calories in something and just want to add cals, you click the 123, and quick cals. if you arelucky and live in the USA you maybe able to add cals from fat. This is not available on products up here in canada.

forgot this is for the android ap. I think it's different for the desktop.

You're absolutely right! If you knew what was coming it wouldn't be as fun. Just like the step compitions for the week, weekend, between just one other person and even competing against your self makes Fitbit all the more fun to have. Plus you get into better shape and are more healthier without even knowing it. 😎

How about a Rank that recognizes those of us who participate in group classes?  I take 2 Zumba classes and 1 Drum Fit class each week.  I log over 5,000 steps in just one Zumba class.  On a Thursday I take the Zumba class immediately followed by Drum Fit and last Thursday I logged over 12,000 steps just in those classes.  In both classes music is involved, so it might be fun to have a designation that has a cardio/dance feature to it.  Perhaps "Cardio Dancer" ????  Just a suggestion. I do believe that is what the trophies and awards are for. These are two
different things. We don't get trophies and awards for participating in the
forums.

A good Fitbit beginner name would be TURTLE 😂 LOL (I felt like one my first few weeks!)
Navigating to Invite people to be Friends is a little confusing but I'm sure I read something wrong. ?
Maybe if step goals were under pics someone who feels intimidated by the large numbers and wouldn't stand a chance of hitting close to that number would more likely find people in the target area to encourage. i.e. Those with limitations don't want to compete in a challenge with Sprinter! That might even discourage. I have to admit I have hit numbers I dared to believe I could make! Walk on!
