I started aqua aerobics classes and there isn't a single shortcut that tracks the exercise properly. Researching online I see that other users have had this issue for a while, and Fitbit suggests to enter it manually, which isn't a real solution at all. I contacted Fitbit support to see what exercise shortcut alternative would best track it. The customer support rep suggested swimming, which was surprising because that only tracks length of laps and how many you do, but in aqua aerobics you're in one place doing really intense workouts. I tried the Workout shortcut, but because there is resistance in the water it does not track the intensity of the exercise with accuracy at all. The lack of this option has rendered my Fitbit pretty much useless and I cancelled my Premium subscription. Is there someone here who might have an actual solution to this? The rep also said they would take this feedback seriously to improve future features, but because this seems to be a long standing issue I am wondering how long it will take and how many customers Fitbit will loose to the Apple Watch and other devices that track this exercise no problem.

I used swimming to record aqua aerobics. It seems to be the closest choice right now, but I wish there was a more precise one.

I wear my fibit for aquagym as we call it, just using the waterlock. It used to log as steps, now it logs as swimming because of the arm movements. If you convert it to aqua aerobics the total number of calories decreases which makes sense (I swim laps with it as well, and make sure I push off the wall to track my laps-)Basically, it’s very hard for something you wear on your wrist to track what you’re feet are doing when you’re in the water. GPS tracking can’t tell it that you have or haven’t moved, because it only works in exterior environments. Heart rate data isn’t accurate because all sport watches use lights to detect your heart rate, with the rate and more expensive option of wearing a monitoring strap. So any information your fitbit records will be an approximation, but you can use that approximation to keep track of your overall active minutes.
