The workouts freeze or I cannot start them at all. Very disappointing, second time this happened in 2 months

I see where your disappointment is coming from. Please double check that your Fitbit app is always up-to-date and check that your phone operating system is compatible with the Fitbit app:
Please reply to the following questions if you experience the same again: Is this happening with an workout in specific? Which phone model do you have?
