Free trial Fitbit Premium inquiry

I was looking to buy a tracker, older one is going, and saw offer for discounted one year membership. I asked Fitbit if I started free 6 month trial and bought premium on sale  would it start at end of free trial, makes sense I thought. Well I got told this is not possible I would have to cancel free trial in order to buy subscription. Hopefully the help desk person, Ranjed, misunderstood what I was asking as they told me to this site and leave comments.

I would hope loyal customers are valued yet I get the feeling like many companies it is good to say yet not how things are done. Let me know
