How to change currency for Premium?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I originally set up Fitbit in the UK but have lived in Spain for 5 years now. I recently acquired a Sense and would like to sign up to Premium but it insists on trying to bill me in GBP not Euro. That will incur unnecessary conversion rate and other bank charges as all my cards are now in Euros. How do I get the billing currency to change to reflect the credit card I now have attached to Google Play ie a Euros card?

Thanks.

Paul

@appetite4 Hi there. Thanks for the details mentioned.

Since the Fitbit Premium subscription is going to be purchased through Google Play, the currency needs to be change in Google Play settings, follow these steps to change it.

Hope this helps.

Hi Silvia,

Thank you for the reply. I understand the solution but I'm not prepared to change the country location on my UK Google account at present. Why you may ask, well.....

1. I have a perfectly good Spanish Google Play account/billing ID with payment methods set up and working already.

2. Google Play advise me that if I change the country setting for my UK Google Play account I will lose access to the Google Rewards credit I have built up on that account. They further warn that I may also lose access to music, films, tv series etc that I have already bought on the UK account. Additionally I use a number of apps that are not available to download from the Spanish Google Play Store so I might not be able to update these further and could even lose access to them completely. While that would be mildly annoying for something like BBC iPlayer there are financial apps which I use that would be a much more serious loss.

3. Google Play also advise that after making the change of country I could not not change back for a whole year.

What I really need to do is get the Fitbit app disconnected from the UK Google Play billing id / account and reconnect it to the Spanish Google Play billing id / account.

The closest I have been able to come to being able to do that is changing the login email for Fitbit from the UK gmail account to the Spanish one. That didn't work immediately so I deleted the Fitbit app entirely, clearing cache and data on the way out, and downloaded it again from the Spanish play store using the Spanish gmail (associated to the Spanish billing ID) before logging in again with the Spanish gmail account. It still it seems to be locked to the UK billing ID though.

If I set up a new Fitbit account from scratch, one that recognises that it is in Spain and needs to use my Spanish Play billing ID and payment methods, would I be able to import my historic data from the UK Fitbit acccount? I have seven years of data there which I'd really like to keep.

Thanks

Paul

@appetite4 Thank you for getting back. I appreciate the detailed information shared.

I totally understand why you're unable to change the country location of your Google account. In this case, you may want to contact Google Play Store for additional options.

Regarding your inquiry about creating a new account, it's not possible to transfer the data from a Fitbit account to another.

Hope this helps.
