Sleep score available with Premium Subscription

I'm extremely disappointed how Fitbit have decided to lock away user's own sleep data behind a Paywall subscription.

Subscription for:

* Audio & Video Workouts

* Guided Programs

I totally understand because they're added features to enhance/supplement the tracker but

* Premium Insights

So I can see my sleeping heart rate, my own data from the tracker, is pretty rude.

I bought the tracker specifically for sleep data and there was nothing in the website to indicate that it is or will be accessible behind a paid subscription fee @ $14.99/month AUD...

Yes but why would we buy a new Fitbit just to get the same insights? The ad for the Versa 2 explicitly shows people viewing their sleep score but now that’s a paid subscription service? That’s literally the only reason I Upgrades my old Fitbit. Extremely disappointing and feels devious. The ad should mention the subscription requirements to use the features it’s promoting so heavily.

I'll just pile on saying it's sad to see that sleep statistics, which I bought the tracker for, are locked behind an expensive subscription for lots of stuff I don't need.

Since people report seeing this data in a previous version of the app for free, it stands to reason that this data is calculated for all users, and hence could be requested under the GDPR.

Selling my ionic. Had enough.

Bought a galaxy active 2. So happy. No connectivity issues and seems accurate. Plus all the stats and information at hand for free. No doubt many more will follow

I also think that this is disgusting. I bought the versa 2 specifically to get this information. Even upgraded to the special edition to get 3 months premium for free!

I have been seeing ads for the premium for months and better imagined that Fitbit was advertising a product not available in my area. I really feel cheated!

I sorry think it was not clear that the extra sleep information would only be available for premium.

I am really disappointed with the product and would like to send it back.

I agree.  I am interested in my sleep hours and my average sleep hours for the week.
I do NOT appreciate the SNARKY Sleep Score commentary I receive now concerning my sleep the night before.  I find it rude and it is not how I want to start my day.

I have to add an update to my post - I DO get the sleep score on my new Versa 2 - it just required a couple night's rest to collect sufficient data. However the heart rate and additional insights into my sleep score are still subscription-based. But I'm happy I get the score now, that was extremely frustrating when I first started using it and thought that was what I was going to get. It's slightly off-topic but my new discovery that I find disappointing is that the Spotify feature doesn't work connecting to my Airpods directly, it has to go through another device. The second top reason for upgrading to the Versa 2 was that I thought I could track my run and play my Spotify music without having to carry my phone, but unfortunately that's not the case.

Please remove sleep score from behind paywall.

Now that Fitbit is owned by Google I truly hope they will remove the sleep score behind the paywall and make it available to everyone.  It is certainly something that should not be put behind a paywall.

I truly hope Fitbit and Google does the right thing.

Happy New Year everyone!

I agree that sleep score should be removed from behind the paywall subscription and be made available to everyone as a standard feature.

Hope you and your team can make it happen.

All the best & Happy New Year!

How about we improve the app and software?? Why cant my Fitbit detect when I have forgotten to end my workouts? Got to be pretty straight forward as all the info is available, heart rate, movement etc and if I do forget why cant I edit it to remove the time from a workout when I was sat on the sofa at home? Why cant we better edit workout names? The reason I bought a fitbit was to be able to see progression  and look back on what works, but the best I can do is tell when I went to the gym. Also why cant fitbit ask me if I'm working out if I forget to start timer? And allow me to adjust my start time to include time missed? Very frustrating and will fall on deaf ears as u already have my money and I wont pay a sub, certainly wont buy another if nothing improves

I find this very frustrating, to have details of my sleep patterns hidden behind a pay wall.

I don't mind paying a subscription for:

  • Mindfulness
  • Workout
  • Wellness program
  • And any other additional features

But to hide my detailed sleep information behind a paywall is ridiculous...

Very disappointed Fitbit.

I also purchased the premium heart rate tracker for when I sleep . Lately, though You can't see the number. It's just showing the top in the white box. Do you know how to fix this?

With everyone in the community on this issue. Just bought a new Fitbit and assumed the level of sleep data which is now locked behind a misaligned subscription model would be available and included in the $200 product price! Can I suggest to Fitbit that if you are so tied to milking the product for as many revenue streams as possible that you offer your customer at least the chance to buy the specific sleep feature outright for a flat of $20 or something. Not only should we be entitled to that feature and data anyway but charging your customer an additional $180 per annum for the right to use it is outrageous and a complete business gimmick. Yes there is other stuff available under premium but clearly know one cares about that so at least offer the sleep score feature and data as a seperate add on or risk loosing valued customers. Personally I will be returning mine if this is not rectified after a number of years using Fitbit and previously advocating it to the sport and health community. This might seem like overkill for a sleep feature however it is the principle of charging your customers ridiculous amounts of money because you know they clearly need it and want it. You have exploited customer loyalty and the ramifications will not be good

If I had known this was coming for throwing my broken Charge 3 in the trash and buying. Versa 2 I would have just dumped Fitbit completely. As it is, you can be sure that Fitbit will be receiving no more positive endorsements to any of my family, friends or contacts. Blatant rip-off from a position where I was very happy with the app and product line. In this day and age with the connectedness of people, Fitbit will learn moves like this are a poorly conceived mistake.

(un?)-fortunately,   My versa seemed to brick itself the other day and is now stuck bootlooping.   Fitbit was unable to fix or repair and offered me 25% off a new device.   LOL

Not going to spend hundreds to have half the sensor data locked behind a subscription.  Shopping alternate brands now!

Well, now I know why my Versa 2 has not reported my sleep score since Feb 23rd of this year.  What used to be included with the purchase of the tracker now has to be paid for.  I think that is referred to as "bait and switch".

Amazon are delivering my new fitbit some time today, I've preloaded the app , saw something about premium. A quick search and I found this thread.

Features paywall for what is just a alogrithm it will be going straight back, may as well spend more on a better devices that doesn't lock up your data for no reason.

Paying for 'real' coaching is not so bad, but this costs the same as Netflix.... and for what?

.

I was absolutely shocked when I noticed my sleep score feature has been hidden behind a subscription wall. Like many, this was one of the features that sold me on this device. I will be looking to a different company for a new device. This feels like the 'taking candy from a baby' scenario.  Extremely disappointed. Timing couldn't be more perfect...terrible business move 😥

Hi Fitbit,

I have the same disappointment as the rest of the community. We got this device to be healthier and monitor it closely to make informed decisions. By hiding the sleeping heart rate under a premium subscription that doesn't fit our will (the majority and me neither will use the coaching and dieting services as at least in my case, I already use third party services).

I will suggest taking the sleeping heart rate under a sole subscription at the true value price.

Any sleep info stopped in my account on January 26, 2020.

This is absolutely absurd. In-depth sleep tracking is literally the only reason I use Fitbit as I have an Apple Watch and that does a lot more than my Fitbit. Fitbit, you are being incredibly slimy locking away the user’s own stats behind a ridiculously high monthly fee. A SMALL, one-time fee, I could MAYBE get on board with. But the price of premium is absolutely not worth what it offers. Your guided workouts are crap and I’m sure very few people need that anyway. That’s not why we bought Fitbits, we bought them to track our stats and you are taking that away from us. How dare you. I just preordered a new Charge 4 and I will be returning it the moment it arrives if you do not fix this. I want to see my own sleep stats extracted from my tracker, at no extra cost. The price I paid for those stats is the cost of the device. I am blown away that you have the nerve to demand more money. Give us our stats back and leave the outrageous premium subscription fee for people who want guided workouts. Or if you’re so desperate for money, make the premium subscription offerings better! But leave the sleep stats FREE, because we already paid hundreds of dollars for them!! Be better, Fitbit. Fix this. I am SO disappointed.
