Validation has failed - error message

For some reason I can’t login in on my Fitbit coach app. I’ve changed my password but it didn’t helped. I always get an error message telling me the validation has failed.

Could you help me?

Hey Everyone

What helped me was signing in with Facebook and then it asked me to connect with Fitbit Account email and password. Then it worked, I no longer got any validation failed messages.

Hello @EllyBird and @PawAirMah, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.

@EllyBird, thanks for taking the time to let us know the troubleshooting steps you've tried in order to resolve this issue on your side.

@PawAirMah, thanks for reporting this situation to us. At this moment, if your password contains any symbols, please restart it and remove them as these are not valid and might be the reason you're not able to log in. Please create a new password consisting only of characters and numbers.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, give it a try and let me know the outcome.

Hello @Anw-EH thanks for joining the conversation, it's great to have you on board the Fitbit Community.

I appreciate you have taken the time to report this situation and let us know you're still getting this error message. Would it be possible for you to let us know exactly which troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? This will be very helpful for us to check this further.

In the meantime, in case you haven't tried these steps, please try them:

  • When logging in to Fitbit Coach, select "Log with Email" and manually log your email address and password.
  • Uninstall the Coach app from your phone, restart it and install it back, then try to log in.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Just joined the Fitbit community. Same issue here, no access to coach due to validation error. Anyone?!?

I am having difficulty logging into Fitbit Coach.  I have reset the password for Fitbit (which works) and tried logging into Fitbit Coach. I repeatedly receive an error message stating validation failed.  Please help!  Thank you!

I am having the same issue. Brand new Fitbit logged in no issue, but Fitbit coach will not let me log in. Both have same username and password and I've reset the password. Please tell me there is resolve since the issue was mentioned on 29/04/2018 and it's now over a year later?

Just got a Fitbit. Downloaded the app and all good there. Downloaded Fitbit Coach and used same login information as the Fitbit app, but saying "Error Logging In: Validation Failed:" every time. I've reset my password on both apps. Fitbit app still working fine, same error message on Fitbit Coach. Has there been a resolve to this issue yet?

July 2019 - not sure if this matters to the readers or if its outdated but I use an Android platform mobile device.  I logged into the Coach via the FitStar option.  Same email / username and password as my FitBit account - connected to Coach once logged in - seemed easy enough.

Did you try to login through „with e mail adress“ instead of fitbit? And there, reset the passwort. Then again login trough email. That worked for me

Come on Fitbit. Having recently encountered this problem I am horrified to see that it’s been going on for over a year! Really!?!?  I just signed up to Fitbit Premium and so I am in the free weeks trial but it’s useless unless you can use Coach so I will be cancelling before I’m charged. I’ve had great customer support in the past but if you’re software people can’t fix a bug in over a year then that’s a problem.

UPDATE:

I have just reset my password on Fitbit Coach app - using Apples built in password generator, which uses special characters (if you read all the posts we were told they cause problems), and it has enabled me to use Fitbit Coach and is linked with my Fitbit account. It is only a workaround. Fitbit still need to fix the issue as this doesn’t work for everyone.

Still unable to access app. I uninstalled and reinstalled app, and still nothing. There is no option for me to login with email. My options are login with Fitbit (validation failed message), login with FitStar (username/password incorrect message), or login with Facebook which I don't want. I've reset my password and reinstalled both apps, still nothing. Fitbit app fine, just not Coach. Is there a resolve?

I went onto the Fitbit Coach website (on my phone through Safari) and reset my password. That solved the problem for me but I know it doesn’t work for everyone.

Wow. I haven’t been able to get in on the app for about a year and this fix worked for me! I went to the Fitbit Coach website on my IPad. Changed my password, and then logged into the website using the “email” login.  Then I logged in with the same password to the app and I’m in! After almost a year.  Unbelievable.  The website also asked ,e to link my account and I did.  Good luck everyone.
