What am I paying Premium for?

Since Google bought Fitbit you have:

- redesigned the app to make it less intuitive to use

- made the sleep score unreadable - I used to use this a lot but now don’t look at it because it makes my brain and eyes hurt

- today I got the ‘update’ which has removed the active minutes recommendation from readiness score, and realise it’s now free to all users. I don’t need personalised recommendations for my workouts. Indeed (shock horror) the majority of my activity comes from things outside Fitbit. But the recommended minutes was really fun and helpful to me to use as a guide to understand what ‘moderate’ might look like. A recommended workout doesn’t help me plan a moderate run, but a suggestion of active minutes does.

Ive said it before but it appears that the main aim of Google is to run Fitbit into the ground. Every upgrade makes it less useful. Fortunately this came just as my annual subscription is coming up so I’ve cancelled it. I won’t waste a working device but I most assuredly will not be replacing my Fitbit with anything made by Google.

I could not agree with your assessment more. The sleep update was very annoying, but I managed. To find out that the readiness score is a watered down version of what it used to be, and now free to everyone, what is the actual point of premium anymore. Not for what they are charging. Like you, I enjoyed the recommendation. It helped keep me focused after a hard work out, to at least get in the next day and shoot for the recommendation. Its unfortunate indeed.
