Fitbit Update 6/14/19: We have removed the web-based activity groups from Fitbit.com. Our enhanced community features within the Fitbit mobile app provide users with a significantly better experience by allowing them to access fitness-related news and local events, connect and message with friends, discover public groups of like-minded individuals, and create their own private groups.

User-created groups on the Fitbit app also allow members to track their progress through group leaderboards and cheer each other on, just as they could through the web. The Fitbit mobile app is available for Android and iOS.

As of 6/13/2019, Web Activity Groups have been deprecated and will no longer be accessible.

We know that many of you have used this space to connect with friends and fellow Fitbit users, and we recommend considering the in-app Fitbit Community to continue those conversations. Along with topical public threads where you can discuss personal health goals, the Community also offers closed groups with many advantages - including space for up to 2,000 members, and leaderboard statistics.

For more information on joining and inviting your friends to these closed groups, check out this article. We know that this kind of transition can be difficult, but we are confident that you'll find lots to love in the new Fitbit Community!

This is the same issue as being reported in the thread above - worth a read (although to warn you, there's no resolution yet).

The last time this happened, our very active group almost fell apart. We love our groups and want them back!

I was on the phone with Fitbit support and they didn't know how to handle it. I ended up ending the 40 minute phone call and had to email him screenshots and he said he'd "escalate my case to higher management."

I emailed a big-wig salesmen for Fitbit about this. This was his response:

"Hi Zach- I have a team meeting tomorrow so should know more then. We will have a better replacement, just unsure when. I’ll keep you updated."

Seems this is no bug, but intentional.

I am having the same problem - cannot access my Group to get to the leaderboards, etc.  Says Group Page has taken a Different Trail.  It was working last week???

Best Answer

@zachwashburnFor crying out loud...just randomly withdrawing features thousands of people are actively using, without warning, just saying there 'might' be a replacement in the offing... one day...

I'm off if groups doesn't come back.

I am an employee at Stews and we are doing a fit bit challenge and we had our own group page and I see you have eliminated it so we can no longer see our co-workers progress...why would you take this away...?? it was such a motivation to see how many steps I was away from my co-workers. Will you PLEASE consider bringing it back?? I thank you in advance for considering this

They wanted to kill the groups off last year but reluctantly fired the servers up again because enough people complained.

It's such bad management it is laughable, really.

I'm also missing the four "private" groups to which I am a member. They still show up on my profile page but lead to the "different trail" message. Also, at the same time, my friends disappeared from my dashboard but are still available on my profile page. Seems to me, someone tweaked the wrong software.

Wendy, I followed your instructions.  I could see a few of my groups.  Clicked onto one of them and it took me to a different screen with the following messages

”Sorry that page is following a different trail”.

“Since it’s unavailable step over to one of these instead”

There are two options: 1) Home Base - clicked onto that and it took me to merchandise.  2) Start another journey which also took me to merchandise.

I just did the exact same thing.Had to e-mail a screenshot. They said I was the only person who has mentioned this problem to them so far.

I really hope this is a temporary problem. I have a very active competition group. The members rely on this group every day for motivation and am receiving lots of complaints today.

So the groups that we have joined and follow on a regular basis is gone.   I have friendly competitions with other members on them and now they are gone.  How can this happen.  It was one of the features i liked about fit bit was the community groups.
