The fitbit webpage on my laptop no longer works.  It stopped working yesterday, and no longer registers data from the app on my smartphone. How do I fix this?

I first contacted live chat. That did not work. I tried twice and both
times actually had the connection terminate! I don't know whether I did
something or my internet connection caused this. I do not give up easily
so my next attempt was a telephone call. That went very well and the agent
helped me solve the problem. The solution was to reinstall my fitbit as a
new device on my smartphone.

It looks like the problem is solved because now the dashboard has the same
step data as my fitbit and as the app on my smartphone. This did not occur
for 36 hours. One thing that I discovered from this -- If the dashboard on
the fitbit website does not have my data this means that my smartphone and
my fitbit are not giving it that data. This matters because I am part of a
study at UPENN called "beactive" that depends on receiving this data from
the website every night.
