I bought a Fitbit about two years ago. The app is fantastic for tracking my food and calorie intake, my sleep patterns and my exercise. I chose the Flex 2 model because I don't like bulky watch-style devices, nor do I need anything with digital display. The Flex 2 is the perfect size, and the rubber wristband is very durable. Everything about it is perfect, except the most important feature - the battery life. In the two years I've had it, my Flex 2 has never lasted more than 2 days. I've turned off all notifications and the all day sync feature. I even bought a new charger. None of this helped improve the battery life.
I refuse to believe claims by Fitbit or anyone else that the battery can last up to five days. I charged my device not even 48 hours ago, and it's already giving me a low battery warning.I really wish Fitbit would commit to making a better Flex 2 product with longer battery life, because < two days is not what I would call good quality. I I really like the minimalist design of the product. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, so having a better option in that style would be very good.

My mom is having the same problem with the Fitbit Flex 2 that I just bought her for Christmas. I too would appreciate some advice. She's 80 and very frustrated, and I don't know how to help her. The battery loses power on the very next day, not even 24 hours later. It will say: 46% by NOON of the very day that she just charged it. Annoying.

The Fitbit staff reached out after my original post. They had me charge my Flex 2 to 100%, then run the battery all the way down and log the times. It ended up lasting 47 hours, which is less than half of what Fitbit claims the Flex 2 battery life is capable of. Fitbit staff agreed that my device wasn't performing the way it should. My device was out of warranty, but Fitbit still offered me a 30% discount on a replacement product.
Unfortunately it seems like the Flex 2 has been discontinued, so I bought the Inspire HR model. It's a bit bulkier than the Flex 2, but so far it isn't bothering me. I find that I've really enjoyed the added display features, such as the heart rate monitor. The biggest difference has obviously been the battery life. I received and charged my new Fitbit on Saturday. Three days later my battery is still 68%. Big improvement.
If, like me, your mom doesn't like the bulkier devices, I'd suggest buying the Inspire belt clip accessory. I've used it for a day so far, and it's a good way to give the wrist a break. Sorry if this reads like I've been paid for this review, but I promise I'm being honest. I begrudgingly upgraded, but if I'm being objective, I'm happy so far. I hope this helps.
