I’ve created a group for members with fibromyalgia. But it’s a closed group. How do I make it an open group so people can request to join?

I’ve done the same, apparently only Fitbit centrally created groups are open. All other groups are classed as private and thus closed. Which is a shame, maybe we can ask Fitbit to centrally create a Fibro group

I created a group and was (at first) disappointed that I couldn't make it open for anyone interested - because I wanted it to grow and be an active group. However, with the number of "friend requests" I receive from people who are using Fitbit as a hookup/dating site, I am glad the groups are closed. Having closed groups allows you to "screen" the potential members. I have a virtual gym and I would hate for the members to start feeling harassed. ~just my opinion

I found this forum in the same way you did! HAHA! I commented below about this. Closed groups are possibly a great idea, it allows you to "screen" potential members. Through the forums page, I created a forum page for my group explaining what the group was about and inviting people to respond with their interest (don't ask me how because I don't remember! HA!). Then I would send a friend request and, after they accept, invite them to my group. It seems like a bit of a hassle but, in the end, I have a better comfort level that the people in my group have similar interest to mine and we can encourage each other. I have added a couple great people to my group this way.

I really wish that you had more open groups or allowed people to make open groups so people can join without having a friend in the group. I have like 5 friends and want a group to be a part of that includes more than that group and with people who eat like I do.
