2,020 Miles in 2020

Hello all!  The New Year is upon us very soon!  The annual goal to run/walk/move 2,020 miles for the year 2020 is right around the corner.

As luck would have it, 2020 is a Leap Year, which means we have an extra day to complete our goal which is ever so slightly easier than last year's goal.  Your daily goal is slightly lower, but the weekly and monthly goal slightly increases.

2,020 miles =

5.51 miles per day

38.84 miles per week

168.33 miles per month

Since Fitbit decommissioned the old web-based groups, I created a group in the Fitbit app instead.  I will be renaming the current 2019 group to reflect the New Year of 2020 later next week to minimize the amount of invites I have to send out to everyone.  So if you're already a part of the 2019 group in the Fitbit, you don't need to do anything!

If you would like to join the 2020 group in the Fitbit app and you're not already apart of the 2019 group, please let me know here and I'll send you a friend request.  Once you accept, I can add you to the group.

As of May 31st. Almost halfway there. May was my worst month so far, just lots of life stuff that sucked the energy out of me.

Hoping to step it up for June. 😊

you beat everyone sitting on the couch.  Still impressive numbers.   I got 200 miles for May putting me at 1644.14 for the year.  Hoping to squeak out 376 more miles by December.  My smallest month yet but cutting myself slack because it's been several months of horrendous hours, so not much time for running. One good point is between the hours on my feet and hours spent running, I haven't gained any covid weight.  lol

Another month in UK lockdown and falling further behind.  Have averaged 158 miles a month so far.  Need to achieve 176 miles a month for the remainder of the year to ensure I get to the target.Miles May 20.jpg

Anyone having data problems? I looked at the Fitbit about the time I normally have 10K steps in. It displayed 11 floors and 120 steps. An hour later, I see I now have only 14 steps. How can it go backwards?

Hey Patrick,  that's the biggest reason I stopped using my Fitbit.  I did a 13.1 mile run, on an official race, and it told me I ran 5.87 miles.  I got tired of losing all my data, having it be so daggum inaccurate, and calling for "customer service" (which is pretty bad)   I hung it up and got another brand, and it works great-I haven't had any issues.  I even finished a long run and it had gone into hibernation due to low battery and when I plugged it in, it had kept all my mileage.  Fitbit has been a real disappointment, and they replaced my unit twice because it kept dying.  Hope you get it straightened out.  It's hard enough getting steps in without having added frustration.

FierceDiva, apparently I am not alone.

I went to the Help page for Versa, and it is loaded with posts about this issue.

Like you, I'm considering swapping out to another brand.

With Google buying Fitbit, one might think the software would improve not degrade.

100 percent agree with you about lack of accurate data from the Fitbit.

I started training about 6 weeks ago for a 5K and everyday I go running with my Fitbit and Strava and not once has Fitbit matched up or had accurate data! In fact I started to screen shoot it because when I would press and hold to finish my run on Fitbit it would tell me a certain distance and then when it logged into the activity it knocked off a bunch

And if you look at the map that I ran you could see that half the distance I went was not posted on the map

I have had a fantastic experience with the Garmin Forerunner 45.  I have many running friends who also swear by Garmin and Strava.  I just happened on a good sale on the Forerunner when I started looking and it's accurate, easy to use, and I haven't had any issues (fitbit was a constant frustration for me)

This sounds interesting but I’m just getting started with Fitbit, only had mine about a week and half.

Hi everyone, sorry I have been silent.  My beautiful dog of 10 years passed away on July 4th and I've been taking a break.  I'm still checking this thread to add people to the group.

Hope everyone is doing okay.
