2015 Goals with Fitbit?

Today is New Year's Eve and my mind is buzzing with ideas for the upcoming year! Smiley Very Happy

Having my lovely Fitbit on my side will certainly help me reach my goals for 2015. Some of them are weight and health related but a couple of them are to rest, make me step out of my comfort zone and try new things :smileywink:

So far I have:

  1. Reach 100 pounds lost (41 pounds so far!)
  2. Get 10,000 steps at least 3 times per week
  3. Complete the C25K
  4. Run a 5k for my birthday and a 10k by the end of the year
  5. Explore new places! Climb a volcano, run around a lake or a beach
  6. Walk with friends and family
  7. Sleep 8 hours a day
  8. Improve my eating habits

How are you going to use your Fitbit towards your 2015 goals?

As corny or as out there as it may seem I want to walk as much as I can to reach my goal of getting the equivilent of walking across Canada. That is about 7200 km or about 4500 miles which for me would be about 15 million steps.

Better late than never, my goals for 2015 are:

Lose 70 lbs.

Complete the C25K program

Complete my first 5K

Complete my first 5K without walking

Get healthy and fit enough to reduce or eliminate my diabetes and HBP medications.

That's a pretty ambitious list but as they say, every journey begins with the first step. Smiley Very Happy

Hi! Today is March 3rd and it's already two months into the new year but with all the holidays and my birthday and even Valentines day it's been really hard to have any fitness or weightloss goals for me. I'm one of those people that likes to start things and even if I see results I quit after a couple of weeks. Its just easier to give in with the rest of my household. The hubby doesn't help when it comes to weight loss goal because he is too sweet (also very evil in a weight loss kinda way) that he gets me things that would make me happy like a Dr. Pepper or chocolate. He offers to take us out to dinner and since I know he doesn't want to eat the foods I want to make,  I give in. Then of course when I go out to eat I can't just say a salad or a light meal it all smells too good!! If I do stay strong and eat healthly then I get a little depressed and I hate that! Food can have such a hold on you. So to make a long story shorter I think I have finally convienced him to stay on track with me. He too needs to lose a few pounds (me more than him) so he has agreed to do a modified version of a diet that has been successful for me in the past (a low carb). I go to the gym 3 times a week for an hour. I work on cardio between treadmil, bike and elyptical. I also work on legs, chest and back. On the other days it's random but I will do arms and even squats at home. If I'm really focused then I'll do my abs. I generally follow Jillian Michaels 30 day shread workouts just with out the video playing. Even though I know it takes time for the weight to come off and that means staying consistent for a long period of time (longer than 2 weeks :)) but it's hard to convience my mind and that determination button. I'm hoping with my husbands involvement that it will be more achievable for both of us. So ultimately my 2015 goals are:

                             1. Lose 35 lbs

                             2. Find an activity I enjoy doing that doesn't see like work to stay fit.

                             3. Eat healthier and maintain more of a raw food diet.

                             4. Eliminate sodas

                             5. Hit my 10,000 steps a day goal 5 times a week

Please wish me luck and comment with any tips or advice to help me stay on track!! Thanks!

Cheers to 2015!

I want to wish you good luck.  It sounds like you're trying to get healthy but sometimes things just get in the way.  It's up to you to overcome the food cravings but I think you can do it.  It helps to have a husband who supports your efforts.  You both can do it.

Fitbit helped me reach my 2014 goal of losing at least 40 lbs and this year my goal is to now get back into my 5k running which I used to do before I gained the weight due to some medical issues, milestone age metabolic changes, etc. I'm loving my Fitbit because it makes me accountable and aware as to what I am and am not doing as far as activity.

First, congratulations on meeting your 2014 goals; and best of luck in achieving your 2015 5K goal. If I may extend an unsolicited bit of advice, I would suggest to avoid running for the whole 5K, even more so if you're in my age group or older (66 for me.) I started doing intervals a bit over 18 months ago or so, and it's working out great.  I do 3 min brisk walk, followed by a 3 min jog; and cycle through the whole 60 min workout. You don't use your leg joints and muscles the same way when walking and jogging. So by alternating, you relax those joints and muscles that take most of the pounding during the walk segments; and vice versa during the jog segments. It also helps with your caloric burn, because one benefit of the intervals is to cause your heart rate to go up and down with the interval scheme. I use a small app called Second Pro to help me with audio prompts when its time to swtich. Hope this helps. Best of luck.

@bdaniels04 Congratulations! This is why I love being part of this Community, I get so inspired by people like you. It is definitely not easy, however, you have proven that it's possible when you set your mind to it and have positive attitude. I also have some medical issues and I'm working on improving my health and lifestyle, so I'll keep your post in mind so when I'm feeling a bit down, I get myself back on track! Robot Happy
