Hello All
Anyone heard of this? Challenge starts on Sunday - run, jog, walk, cycle, whatever you like - 5km (3.11) miles every day for 50 days. When you sign up you pay a smal donation to Sport Relief. You can then log your mileage on the website, (made really easy with the Fitbit tracking every step!) and feel jolly smug at the end of it as to how well you have done.

Ah awesome. This weekend mine will start with skiing for a day or two. Oh gosh.. Well good to hear you're progressing! Thank you 🙂 disappointed with my steps so far after walking all morning, spin class and then swimming for half an hour! I hoped I'd have my steps extended a little more.. Perhaps next time.

Fantastic thanks for signing up! The activity tracker will go live on Saturday so is not visible yet, but it will be there, and it is a nice simple system. Yes you can even log an exercise class of 30 mins which counts. We do love to include everything! I am still hoping to run most of it but walking to start with and then walk run - car accident a month ago is still causing me problems but I am getting there! Have a great day!

Enjoy skiing! Almost 11K steps looks great to me! I have been sorting out at home after having new furniture delivered this morning, which then meant I had to go into the City for a few things I decided we needed. Can't beat a bit of shopping. My legs were sore by then so took a taxi back home. Have a great rest of the day, keep stepping 🙂 x

Ha ha thank you. I guess that is a irritating part of comparing your stats to others. Sometimes its important to accept that time can be an issue. Sadly my day will deteriate a bit, numeracy key skills test to prepare for. Oh that is exciting! Ha ha indeed, I did a bit of shopping too this morning, gym/exercise clothing. Yeah it is important to listen to what your body is saying. I'm only just getting back into running as well to be honest due to weird shin issues. Having to train myself to run on the balls of my feet so I don't cause any more damage. You too 🙂 x

That is me back from skiing and boy it took A LOT of energy out of me! I had planned on doing a 5x50 challenge on Sunday till a friend encouraged me to head north. I enjoyed it. The snow was good and I was very pleased to sync again. I had zero energy yesterday but tried hard after work, went to the gym and sat with a banana and a smoothie with a shot of protein hoping for my energy to spring back in time for Run club but it didn't. Today I will go out for a short run/walk. Is it super bad if we often put walking as our exercise eg. during work? Your situation is inspiring, so I thought you might give me a wee kick and say I should do more than my work routine. Ideally I'd like to reach 10k every day. Shame about other commitments too.
I am doing what I can, but I am also aware that the more days I do 'less' exercise (apart from work/daily steps), the harder the motivation would become. Training session tomorrow evening, working tomorrow evening so the soonest I can do a good proper run is Friday. I guess I am feeling the guilt but I struggle heaps to balance out everything. I will definitely head out today, but probably not for long. >.<
So sorry for my moan... I shouldn't be like this >.< How are you doing?? A couple more days of work and then its the holidays. This will make it easier to balance things out- A bit, although my brothers fiancee's hen do coming up soon!

Hello welcome back! Hope you had fun skiing!
The important thing is that you do the 5k, break it up however suits you. You can walk a mile before work, do another at lunchtime and a mile run after work, or cycle half walk half, whatever fits with your world! It isn't easy to do I know. I make sure that my 5k is specifically 'exercise' as opposed to the Fitbit mileage I clock up during the day at home or at work. You know you can do it go for it!!!!
I got up at 6am and did a walk/run again, for 1.91 miles. I have just come home from walking into Canterbury (although I took a cab home as my legs hurt now!) which got the rest of the mileage today. My Fitbit has measured 7.4 miles total today as I rushed about a lot as well as my actual exercise stuff.
I am hoping to be back to running properly soon and will then do my 5k as a run first thing before the City wakes up each morning when it is nice and peaceful, no traffic etc. It is so lovely here in the mornings.
Now go on get out there, you know you want to!! 🙂 Keep going xx

Thank you 🙂 yes it was great thanks. Snow is on its way out though. WOW. Yeah I thought so >.< hence my knowing guilt. Okay. I'll go run now. I'll be amazed if I wake up early in the morning to run. I love my sleep. Unfortunately I only have a specific 30 minute lunch break so not a lot of time to run. I work in a school etc. It is health week though, and we are doing a series of press ups, burpees, star jumps, hops and sit ups with the children to encourage healthiness. A minute for each exercise was allowed. This took about an hour and a half for them all to do but that was more to get them settled and ready for the next task. We logged the number of sits ups for example within the minute. We'll be doing more tomorrow and see if we improve. I love how I forgot about that. I will log that exercise now and go for that run/walk.
Thanks for the kick!! I need it sometimes.

Love the idea of health week in a school and getting kids jumping about great! I wuld love to run at lunch but we don't have a shower, which I always really need even after just a mile run heehee. I go for a walk at lunch instead, even 10minutes adds to my steps and clears my head ready for the afternoon. I sit at a desk most days so it always feels fantastic to get out and walk a bit!
Keep going with 5x50 you can do it 🙂 if you miss a day you can always make it up on later days!

Hi Alex, sorry I've been so slow in writing back! Yes it was brilliant. We as staff even got pampered with wonderful food, Indian head massage, reiki or swedish massage. I chose the Indian Head Massage, it was only for 20 minutes but it was brilliant. Plus my work colleague was doing it so I'll probably get an hour session when I need to/want to treat myself. My back/neck wasn't tense at all, but apparently my head was. Term is over now though 🙂 yay!
Hypocritially for health week there were a lot of cakes... BUT I am pleased to say that I did not eat much of the cake. I only had a carrot cupcake, courgette and lemon cake, and then a tiny sliver of lemon drizzle. Think that was a lot? Cakes arrived every day! One of the staff kept making them too. I made the most of the fruit, wraps, sandwiches... All were so delicious!
Yeah I was thinking that too. I had planned to run last night before going into my second work (with a family), but it was raining and I didn't think arriving soaking wet would be very appropriate 😛 Oh I see... Yeah I get you. I seem to prefer longer runs at the moment.. But managed a run before work, 8k (I happened to be awake!). I was only going to do half an hour but I loved seeing the dots increasing so I kept going until time was super tight. It wasn't a fasinating run but at the time it didn't matter. Then today... I ran/walked for 4 hours and managed over 13 miles. I love running in the countryside and exploring different routes. Running in mud is pretty awkward and anything uphill makes me walk. Plus arches are still strengthening up at the moment but I loved the experience. Heaps more to explore, but I can't really go for a run in the morning in the countryside as I'd have to turn around quite quickly.
I'll keep it up as much as I can, although my brother's fiancee's hen do coming up..! Can you see which days you've forgotten to log? I don't seem to see my history, I had meant to delete something but I cannot see it anymore etc.
Just heard about the Sahara Sand in London! Turns out I cannot run outdoors there. I go on the 10th before the hen do. I'll be running about the house up & down stairs lol.
How you doing?

Hiya No problem at all! Sounds great fun!
Been out most of the weekend so some great numbers here (although Friday my right leg hurt like **** so only 3400 odd steps that day yuck. I am therefore a day behind on 5x50 but not giving up!
I am a road runner, pavement etc, I don't 'do' mud! Heehee!
Our sand is gone now thankfully - it was really polluted here and breathing was a bit of a struggle (I have mild asthma) but all fine now. And raining today. Hard.
If you go to My 5x50 and click the tab called 'my challenge's you can click 'my activities' to see your log 🙂 Keep going girl you can do it!

I'm sad I only just saw this- next year it will be on!
Ironically I have sort of been doing this anyway. I challenged myself to do 30mins of exercise (minimum) everyday for Lent, and so far I'm going strong and enjoying mixing up my workouts to avoid being too repetitive. It would have been nice to have a purpose for doing it though, other than just for the sake of it.
