Did you mean:

A lifetime of exercise.

I was a competitive runner for 34 years.  My knee had to be replaced and I started walking, with a fitbit on Dec 26, 2013.  I am 73 now and average 16,000 steps a day.  And will continue as long as I am able.

Lifetime Stats:

17,400.2 miles

Welcome to the Community forums, @petedist

This is very inspiring, I was diagnosed with 3 hernias last year and couldn't walk for a few months when I hurt my leg. I thought I would no longer be able to do all the things I wanted to do, but I'm actually walking more now than last year and reaching my 10,000 steps per day!

Bad things happen, but it's important not to give up. 😀

Hey @petedist that's great.  My wife is looking at a knee replacement the end of October.  Very nervous about it, but too much pain as it is, so she's going forward.  How was your rehab?

@Baltoscott same- best wishes to your wife for a speedy recovery. The surgery has come a very long way from where it used to be and patients are back to normal faster and with less pain- fingers crossed that is her experience as well.

@petedist I want to be you in 20 years!

Scott,  I recovered very fast and finished physical therapy in less than a month.

I would have to say, my walking scheduled me for a rapid recovery.  The stationary bike was very helpful.

Best to you and a speedy recovery to your wife.

Thanks for the encouragement @emili @DavideFitbit

@petedist - that’s a pretty quick recovery John.  I’m sure your lifetime commitment to exercise has a lot to do with that.  My wife is pretty active historically but this issue has had an effect. She has gone through tons of PT over the past several years in an effort to avoid surgery but it’s really come to a head in the past few months. Fortunately she has good PT connections to help her through rehab. Her plan is to take six weeks off from work, and she is filling out the long-term disability paperwork in an effort to make sure her coworkers leave her alone after the surgery. We’ll see how that goes. 😀
