Yesterday I took my first spin class. It KICKED my butt. That along with other things I did that day I ended up with 81 active minutes. However it didn't register a workout at all yesterday. I have had days where it has registered a workout but not active minutes so I couldn't figure out why I got 81 minutes and no workout.

I assume you have a Fitbit tracker that only relies on autodetecting activities (e.g. Alta HR), as opposed to one that can both autodetect and let you log them explicitly (e.g. Charge 2). Well, if so, it’s one of their limitations: they may not always isolate a particular activity, even if the duration & intensity thresholds are met. However, even if the individual workout itself doesn’t show up in your log, you should still get all the credit for it in the form of calories burned, active minutes etc.

Even on the Charge 2, I don't automatically get workout credit on my rowing machine no matter how hard I work. The way to get exercise credit is to manually start and stop the workout.
For myself, I've generally stopped being concerned about whether or not something is logged as exercise, knowing I'm still getting credit for calories burned for the day, and steps if applicable, though I realize for many there are valid reasons to want to track exercise sessions.

In addition to everything that has been said, once in a while my workout will show up the next day. Who knows why or how, but I will synch and get everything you described except the walk or run. The next day, its there for the day before. If it doesn't show up, know that aside from that detail, everything else recorded properly so your hard work is officially in the books.
