Anyone having trouble with your Fitbit not counting all your steps?

Ok so I had to ask. I took my daughter back to school shopping today at the mall. I checked my Fitbit when I walked in and walked one whole side...when I checked it again it still said the same steps as when I First walked in. I've only had my Fitbit for a week...did I break it?

Oh wow Beth... yeah that would be really frustrating.... I have this competition with my friend every month and now I'm like....hey wait a minute.... I'm wondering if it needs to be reset or do I not have it tight enough on my wrist or ???

Just had a high day (20,000+ steps). Today it still says that my high steps is at 15,000. Web page is not updating itself.

Try resetting, turn on/off, it might have actually counted your steps and just not up dated. Do you sync with your phone?

Try resetting. Do you wear your fitbit on your wrist? I noticed when driving if there was movement while the vehicle was also moving that the count would change, when actually it should not change at all while driving, but that only happened once.

Try reset. Your high steps still might be there...or what might have happened, is like a false count or something. I have had that happen before....It looked like I did one amount and then when it did finaly sync for the day it was actualy something different. Only happened once though...Try reset.

Yes I do sync with my phone do you think that would be why..... I know this my sound silly but how do you reset it? LOL... i probably should have mentioned that I am no tech savvy and I bought the Fit bit because it has one buttom to scroll through..LOL.. I love the syncing ....I had a fancy techy one that the hubby and son bought me one year many years ago and I sthink I used it for only one of mmy 5ks and havent used it since because there are four button to that one and you have to push one button so many times to get one thing and then two buttons at the same time to see something else...????? yeah i was left confused

Cherie, the one button that you use to scroll through the different choies to view is the same as on/off button, try holding the button in and see if unit turns off, then hold in again to turn back on.. Let me know if that helps..

I've had the Fitbit Flex now for just 3 days.  I stayed up until midnight tonight to get in extra steps.  The last time my dashboard updated on my computer was 11:47 and then started the next day at midnight.  According to the graph I did 268 steps between 11:45 and 12:00 that didn't show up.  I don't know how to restart my Flex (no button at all) and I don't like the incorrect numbers!

I have had to take my fitbit off while i am driving in the car.  I like to ride with my arm out of the window and it can add up steps quickly

Do you have one that you wear on your wrist?  If so, it might not register if your holding a child's hand or pushing a stroller or shopping cart.

Anything that keeps your arm from swinging means it won't register steps.

I'm having a problem trying to log my steps when I finish walking my treadmill. It used to log distance & my steps would increase accordingly. Now it just logs calories burned (inaccurately) and my steps aren't changing. HELP! This is very discouraging 😞

Yes I think thats where my problem was... I think I had my arm crooked with my purse so now that you say that my arm was definetly not swinging ..... when I went for my run/walk... and I had hand weights I made sure to move those arms and had no problems and then when i walked and didnt pump my arms...yeah would stall so I think that may be key...arms in motion when legs in motion lol ...

Yes!! I first got my fitbit in early April 2015. After busy days at work i was coming home to about 7500 to 8500 steps. Then i would finish the day almost around 10,000 steps. But the last few weeks i have been coming home to only 4,000 and finish the day at 6,500!! I have the same job~ it hasn't changed and i was worried that the fitbit would NOT track my side to side stepping but it did in April. I do a lot of side to side stepping. (it is actually 80 feet and i side step that for about eight to 10 times per day.) I have been reading a lot about stride measuring and dominant arm movement but i am not so sure about that. they need to tell me more. I AM abidextrous so i use both arms frequently. It is no longer counting my side stepping and i am really upset about this.I haven't tried to change anything on the computer. Oh and i live in an old colonial and the bathroom is on the second floor. which means every time i am downstairs i have to go UPSTAIRS.. and if i go into the cellar and up again to first floor then to second floor ... I CANNOT tell you how many times they only count that as one flight of stairs when it is actually two! maybe we can get an answer as to why it has changed all of a sudden?

@cath3  To address the stairs, It goes by floors.  The altimeter in the device works off of 10ft increments.  So if two flights are less than 20 feet, then it will count as one.

really? in a house mostly all stair cases are parallel to each other. meaning there are a number of steps.. precisely 10 in between stair cases. IF i go up one stair case it counts as one!! so then when i go up both with the 10 steps in between it will still count as one?? Forgive me but that sounds absurd when it is approximately 40 steps! My height is 5' 2" so someone even taller will have less steps in between stair cases and i can see where that might count as one. BUT in this case they count the one stair case as one so why would 40 steps still be counted as one stair case?

Same here on the Alta.  Went shopping and had both hands on the cart.  Walked up and down the aisles in Costco and get zero steps.  Maybe I need to take it off my wrist and put it in my pocket while shopping.  😞
