April is always a colorful and wet month around here. New buds and flowers popping up every day, cool/worm rather than hot or cold, and the perfect time to get outside … just don’t forget a rain coat or shoes that do well in mud! It is also the time of year that January resolutions start to fade, which means it’s a great time for recommitment — Hence, April Alterations!
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total
Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures
The theme of the photo scavenger hunt this month is changing seasons. Beginning of Spring in the North and Fall in the South. So blossoms for some of us, especially on the trees, and falling leaves for others. And, of course, the mud. Get out there and takes some pics!
Posting
Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Wow @SteppingBooks. Got plenty of cold rain yesterday, and I saw the snow west of me headed North. I was wondering if you'd get hit. Hope it melts fast and that your apple tree survives.

@Baltoscott Oh we got hit! The official tally from NWS was 14.2" I believe. 14.2" or 14.6", with some elevations getting more than that. As some of the snow melted, I realized I was looking at the root system of the apple tree. I'm pretty sure that's the end of the apple tree (it was at least 30 years old). I'll have to see about planting a new one this summer.
My steps are definitely going to suffer. I shoveled a little over half my drive, and my body feels like I was hit by a bus. Happy Hump Day!

@Baltoscott It is! We hit a new record for most snowfall in a day in April, and most snow in a 2-day window in April. One of them, the last record fall was 6.8" (or so) back in 1983. It's amazing to see the difference in snow accumulation between home and work. It's less than a 13 mile drive, but it ranges from 14"+ down to about 4-6" where I work.
This should be the last accumulating snowfall.

Hey all, I’ve seen multiple posts about the battery life, but I’m wondering how long from your purchase date did you start to have these issues? I purchased mine on November 10, 2020. I’m keeping a log of the battery percentage now in my phone.
I turned off: -move reminders -all app notifications including txts
Other: -watch face doesn’t do anything in the background, etc. -it’s up to date
I’ll have it charged to 99% (doesn’t go to 100% anymore) and go to bed. I wake up and it’s at 77% or lower. This used to not happen. I’ve had it barely a year and I thought it would have lasted longer?
I took advantage of the Black Friday sale and went ahead and purchased the latest Charge as a replacement as I literally can’t do anything on this current watch.
Thanks, all!

@NellyG That statue is beautiful. Every year I think how I should put out décor in my yard, keep saying "next weekend", and then it's Fall. I've to get through the installation of the new heating/cooling system first, but maybe by mid-May, I'll actually do it lol
