Are there any rowers or scullers on here?

I am very interested in learning to scull.  I bought a Waterrower to start getting into shape.  I live only 3 miles from Lake Lanier in Georgia and want to try sculling.  I thinking about a rowing skiff due to stability and being able to carry a person or two.

Thoughts or advice?

Thanks

Hi!

I rowed for 10 years and then coached for 10.  I would strongly suggest you join a club and get some good coaching as you learn to row.  Learning how to row well from the start will make being on the water that much more enjoyable later. A quick Google search showed that there is a Lake Lanier Rowing Club (hopefully near you).    I would advise against buying any equipment (which can be expensive) until you see what type of rowing you enjoy.  For me, I found that that I loved rowing with other people in the same boat, and got bored quickly in a single scull.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice.  I've seen them too and it is not too far from me.

I think I'd like the solitude.  Right now, I'd also be a boat anchor for most folks.  I need to get in better shape.
