Early morning steppers - how many steps before work, etc.?

Early birds get the worm - how many steps before work do you do - or are you an early morning stepper and how many steps in the wee early hours do you do ?

About 7000-8000 usually - 5km run (well run/walk at the moment but getting better nicely now!) into the City and back home by 7am for a shower and off to work for 9am. Great start to the day 🙂

Even though I am retired now (yay!!) I still like to get my steps in early. Not happy until step and stair goals are met. Then I can get on with my day which usually includes a whole lot more stepping anyways. Of course it helps being a lifelong early bird. Still haven't learned how to sleep in.

I can only aspire to your numbers Ali!  A desk job does not help, even when I run in the mornings (managed 2.5miles today with walk breaks yippee!) and walk form the office at lunchtime.  My numbers are really climbing again now and more or less back to pre-accident levels.  I usually get up 6am weekdays and 7am weekends, as Owen slumbers on, to get a big chunk of numbers in before the day starts properly!

I love what this constant moving has done for my life. I am stronger, leaner and happier at this age than I have ever been. All started with doctor warning to move it or lose it - pre osteo discussion. She suggested walking and weight training. I took her to heart and boy has it worked.

Me too, I feel so much healthier and bouncier since I lost weight and got active! I was a much bigger girl, used to eat junk all the time and (as I realised after I lost weight and ate better) I felt ill all the time.  Apart from the last few weeks which have been hard, I have really committed to a fitter lifestyle and love it!  Fitbit and the support here is a huge part of that.  I told Owen the other day that my One called me a Stepgeek and he said 'Yep, sounds right to me, you do love your steps!'.

Getting between 12-14K on the treadmill in the a.m. before I hit work....Awesome to have a big chunk done before a long work day.  (have my mins set at 15K so it makes attaining that goal during the rest of the day a piece o'cake!)

Since it has now been getting very hot during the day here in Vegas, I am getting up early to get at least 50% of my daily goal in before work.  I'm currently cranking out at least 14,000 steps per day, and have lost 34 pounds since Feb (got my Flex in late March), and hope to lose 70 by the end of September.   I l

ove my Fitbit more than I ever anticipated!

I'm going for a morning hike this morning to beat the heat! I prefer to get as much done in the mornings, so that it's out of the way if something comes up. Also, I get to beat the heat, and have an overall better day as a result.

I started walking in the early AM (up at 430am) a couple months ago.  I am averaging between 6.5 to 7.5 miles each morning, so that brings me close to my daily goal of 15K steps/7.5 miles per day (I usually top off when I get to work).

I love it becuase it not only hits my 5 lights on the Flex, but by the time I am fully 'awake' I'm about 3 - 4 miles into the walk (and then it is time to pause and get a cup of coffee lol)

Thanks for the encouragement.  I've also found that since I've been doing more steps in the morning, I am actually averaging 1000 to 2000 steps over my daily goal - so that's an added plus!

Congrats MiaMia!

As of last Sunday I've lost 78lbs since January and got my Flex in April.  I think it helps me stay motivated since it helps keep me accountable.  Shooting for the century mark of weight loss by my 40th birthday in September.
