Fitbit Error in Step and Stride Length

Moderators: Don't move this to Suggestions to be voted on.

This does not need to be voted on, it is a Fitbit wording error the programmers should fix.

Experienced and knowledgeable runners know the difference between "step length" and "stride length".

Step Length is from one foot to the next. Stride Length is from one foot to the next and then to the same

as the starting foot. In the Personal Info. settings and in Help, Fitbit describes it as "Stride Length" and

"Running Stride Length". What Fitbit wants in Personal Info. and describes in Help, is "Step Length".

Therefore, the wording in Personal Info. settings and in Help, should be changed to "Step Length"

and "Running Step Length", since this is what the program is set-up to use for calculations.

So this might account for the significant mismatch between Fitbit and GPS distances. I calculated stride by measuring a tenth of a mile then counted the "steps" it took to jog it at an easy pace.
