Hi everyone!
I've been working on my eating habits lately with some success. Now I'm ready to overhaul the rest of my life. I'd like to have a more active lifestyle. Lately I haven't been making it to the gym except for my once a week training session (thank goodness for that), and I think to really make a difference in my body I need to overhaul my activity level just like I've overhauled my eating. So....I'm thinking that what might work for me is an overall change in philosophy---so that I am now an active person, an athlete....a person who lives a healthy active lifestyle. Then I wouldn't need to worry about how to fit exercise in b/c it would be how I live my life.
So if you think this might work for you too join and participate. We can support each other and share our ideas about how we are getting active. It might inspire others to get active too! Feel free to share your steps today / active minutes etc.
Hope that some people join so we can help each other!
Theresa 🙂

I'm not much of a joiner. I'm more the loner type. But I just wanted to say that I think the part above is really important.
When you take on the identity of "athlete" or "healthy person" instead of just working out or eating right, then it bcomes who you are, not what you do. The decisions are simple because that's just what athletes do.
I'm 50 years old and 40 pounds overweight (down 15 pounds in 5 weeks) with a desk job, so I doubt anyone else would see me as an athlete. But the point is that I do now. So eating natural, healthy foods and training are part of my identity now, not something I have to do to reach a goal.
I think you're going to do really well. You have the perfect attitude for success. And welcome to the forum!

Also not a joiner but wanted to applaud your insight about thinking of oneself as an athlete (or at least someone who values and aspires to fitness). This is where my head is now, despite the reality of being an (active) older adult woman who quite possibly is out of her mind! I have taken on fitness as an objective and participate enthusiastically (now) in a number of group fitness activities at my local very well-equipped YMCA. Let's all get our heads around this idea!
