1) My desire to be skinny doesn't seem to be enough to keep me from snacking
2) I snack late at night even after i reminded myself that i shouldn't
3) I keep night snaking even though every morning i hate myself for it
4) i workout at the gym pretty good 4-6 times a week, but let it go to waste by eating like crap at night
5) My inconsistentsies leave me feeling demotivated even though i obviously know i could do better
6) this terrible cycle of working out hard then eating junk leaves me feeling defeated and like I'm wasting my days at the gym

Maybe you are snacking because you are under eating at your other meals and trying to lose weight too fast ?

In general, most people should target a weight loss rate of 1 - 2 lbs per week. To lose 1 lb per week, you should be eating 500 calories below your TDEE (total daily expenditure).

Are you tracking your calorie intake ? If so, how far below your TDEE is your goal ?

yeah I know what you mean - I too was having problems eating between meals when I didn;t really need to. I finally talked myself into the idea that food is there to sustain me not to enjoy (if that make sense). It doesn;t work all the time but most of the time I only eat when I'm hungry.

snacking is a symptom of something else unless you are genuinely hungry. And if you are then choosing not crappy things is the key. Maybe you are snacking because you are bored or over tired or watching TV and its a trigger. something is setting you off to reach for the bag. they easiest thing is to distract yourself until the feeling passes- but you have to be strong about it. brush your teeth, purge a drawer, listen to five of your favorite songs, set a timer for 15 minutes and just stare at it- then set it again until you realize you look crazy and the feeling passes. Or snack, just snack wisely. go for snap peas, cauliflower, celery- any crunchy veg that has about 10 calories an ounce. it will do the trick.

I too had problems with snacking, not just at night, but throughout the day. The key is not to stop snacking completely but to snack more wisely. If bad snacks are your temptation then don't purchase them or have them around your house. Instead you should buy healthier options like emili stated, crunchy veggies, low fat yogurt, string cheese, nuts, protein bars, there are lots of options out there. Or if all else fails just drink water and go to sleep lol it always works for me.

Are you stressed and depressed?   Seems like stress is the root of everything you listed.
