I also have a desk job but on my break I go outside and walk for 15 min then again at noon and also on my last break. I am not sure what I will do when the snow comes. And it will come in Minn.

Walk as you talk on phone.
Get up every hour and move for 5 minutes
Park far away
Floor? Used them.
Go the distance to get water or coffee what ever.

I looked at your graph and you are doing great. I am a fan of walking outside as much as possible. Are you able to take a short walk in the morning before you go in to work? Park at a distance that you can cover in 10 minutes?

I have a desk job and the weather is already starting to get colder so walking outside is a problem, especially with the winter approaching. What I do is focus on physical activity in general. I lift weights 3 times a week, and also have an exercise bike and rowing machine. Those activities don't track steps, but it's the physical activity that really matters. I track the activities and focus on calories burned, and regularly have scheduled workouts in the evening after work.
If you have difficulty getting steps in, try to squeeze in 30 minutes of another activity in the evenings or even in the mornings before work.
My wife also has a desk job, and spends 20-30 minutes every morning on an exercise bike while drinking her coffee. Steps are sometimes overly emphasized; it's physical activity in general that makes a difference.
A thought: find a couple of inexpensive kettlebells for example, and do some metabolic conditioning in the evenings for at least 30 minutes. In-between sets of lifting, I keep myself moving which surprisingly will give me steps in between weight sets.

I hear you about colder weather - I live in Wisconsin and it's beginning to get chilly. I am figuring out how to keep up with the outdoor walking given cold, ice/snow and dark - and clearly I will need to modify my routine some. I will get to the "Y" more often, for sure. The outdoor activity is just so good for my mood and general energy level, so I am looking into footgear that will let me continue as much as possible.

You run!
Forget the step goal, just be active outside exercise.
Please don't give up a better exercise for just getting in more steps.
Rework the fact not all goals are for all people, and if more active than walking already, good job.
Whole bunch of exercises that will transform the body and your health more than walking ever could don't get many "steps" - who cares!
