Hey Fools! -- This is no joke! It's the Monthly Step Challenge for April!

OK, you know you made some foolish promises to yourself in January and now you are trying to pretend that never happened, right?  Well, one fourth of 2018 has come and gone.  It is April now and with a nod toward the foolishness in all of us, it’s time for a reset — maybe with some more realistic goals going forward 🙂

   
How It Works:

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges has been to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

 

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

 

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

 

Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

 

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you use set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

 

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Been slipping into bad habits again this week.  Working out but then being very sedentary in between.  Makes it really hard to get the steps in when only getting a tiny bit from "life".

OK, I was not participating much in March, set goals but never posted. I will do more in April, so count me in.

 

My March goals were 11 k steps, 30 floors, 5 miles per day.

My March averages are 14,638 steps, 36 floors, 6.75 miles per day.

 

For April I will go with the averages, will try to post by week.

So my April goals are:

14 k steps per day 

30 floors per day

7 miles per day

 

Plus I do morning yoga and stretching exercises each day.  Also try to get in a 3 mile dedicated walk per day but that can be very weather dependent.  Example, yesterday when I left for my walk at 1:30 it was 77 degrees, partly sunny. Got a mile up the road and heard thunder. Kept going. quarter mile later I had to turn around due to the heavy rain. Got home soaked at 2:15!  Short but fun walk it was.

5 April  I have decided to add my dance prac as a goal. It is pretty intense at times and I do lots and dont quantify it, so in it goes! My goal is at least 8 hours of practice and or lessons a week.

Decided to take the hourly out of the chart.  Unless I start slacking on it, then I will put it back.

Wanted to get 22 yesterday.  Then after dinner I was NOT going to push for 25K but then when I went to get in bed I looked and i was at 24935.  Couldn't NOT do 65 more steps.  But I think there wont be very many more 20K days unless I can start running again.  Takes too long.

Very low motivation day yesterday.  Really big correlation between how soon after I get up I start moving and how I feel the rest of the day.  Yesterday I was at noon with still only 2K steps.

Taking advantage of my insomnia this morning, gave up and went for a walk - 6500 steps before 6:15.
